Yes, that we need to work on the things that caused the collapses the past two seasons. But when asked point blank what those were, no one could give a straight answer.

I think it might help a lot to have Burnett and Rodriguez for a full year. Those guys aren't going to win the Cy Young, but you can definitely count on getting 6+ innings every time and not have to deplete your bullpen every other game. Karstens and Correia are two guys that always have trouble getting through the 5th inning. They really do need another veteran starting pitcher though, or we could just be dealing with the same problem with different guys.

There are only 2 reliable starters right now. Then Jmac obviously earned a spot in the rotation, but he's far from reliable.

If they want to be good, they need 2 more starters. Not gonna happen though. They'll end up getting one mediocre one, "innings eater" 4th or 5th starter and then we'll be forced to pray JMac and Locke/McPherson can go 5 innings.

Bullpen will then die in August again.

I think I might be the only one who thinks Jmac will be fine next year. I think he came back from the All Star break and started trying to throw no hitters every game. He thought he was going to win the Cy young or something. he still has the stuff, he just has to get back to the right place. He would get rattled way too quickly and lose faith in his stuff right away.

ulf and troy, i agree. i think JMac will be alright. He put on that "King James" crown and thought he was going to win the Cy Young. He was a great pitcher the 1st half, and tried becoming a great thrower again in August. He'll be fine. In fact, I'd look for him to be the ace.

Seems pretty clear that a McDonald rebound is the consensus on LGP.
