I think that dominating 8-9 combo they had last year was one of the key driving factors to getting 16 games over 500. They're weaker in the 8th and 9th going forward, and that was essentially a cost cutting move. It's just a stupid move, especially in conjuction with bringing Liriano in to be the 3rd or 4th starter. He's going to tax the bullpen once a week cause he can't throw strikes.
And what's funny about that is he usually faces public backlash anyways because most of his deals turn out to be crap to begin with.
