It's been known to happen. You need to keep Satan around to deal with them.

A reminder of just how bad this storm was...

http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/headlines/2012/11/were-going-to-die-staten-island-residents-plead-for-help-3-days-after-sandy/

In the rubble that was once his home, Abuzzio found one clean, intact plate of Christmas china. He said that plate will be special at Christmastime and will be used specifically for his mother’s cookies.

For 48 hours after the storm, search teams were hunting for two Staten Island brothers, just 2- and 4-years-old. They were swept out of their mother’s arms when waves caused by storm surges crashed into the family’s SUV. Their small bodies were found today at the end of a dead-end street. Their parents were at the scene where the bodies were discovered.

Staten Island officials sounded increasingly desperate today, asking when supplies will arrive. They blasted the Red Cross for not being there when it counted.

“This is America, not a third world nation. We need food, we need clothing,” Staten Island Borough President Jim Molinaro said today. “My advice to the people of Staten Island is: Don’t donate the American Red Cross. Put their money elsewhere.”

I am sorry for the kids as well but they are retarded for not evac'ing and if it was a medical disablity type situation that was preventing them from leaving they needed to call 911 or some ****

19 of the 40 people killed in NYC lived in Staten Island evacuation zones.

I am generally all for a return to normalcy after things like this, but I find it kind of silly (and crass) that they are devoting so many resources to the NYC marathon. Can't believe the city is going through with it

I'm sorry but that's ridiculous (the last part). They should have been prepared and evacuated. I agree, we need to do more for our nation at home. We can start by not pumping so much money into other nations and pump more into organizations like the Red Cross.

http://www.waff.com/story/19981857/some-nonunion-ala-crews-turned-away-from-sandy-recovery

The hurricane-ravaged east coast has been receiving north Alabama help, but crews learned they'll be doing work in Long Island, New York instead of in New Jersey.

Crews from Decatur Utilities and Joe Wheeler out of Trinity headed up there this week, but Derrick Moore, one of the Decatur workers, said they were told by crews in New Jersey that they can't do any work there since they're not union employees.

The crews that are in Roanoke, Virginia say they are just watching and waiting even though they originally received a call asking for help from Seaside Heights, New Jersey.

I have a great loathing for "articles" that are basically a video. Thats pretty awesome though. At the same time...its crappy for the marathon runners that had reservations though...they may now be stranded in new york.

I read that in another article that had a summary of numerous deaths from Sandy. Just absolutely sad.

Two boys were hunkering in the family living room when a tree fell through and killed them. There was a family trying to escape when a tree fell on the car killing the parents, now the kids are parentless. A women losing all of her children.

These things absolutely kill me. Just like that, your life changes.

There are some stories about elderly being trapped, and while very sad, I think they lived a long good life when you see the age being in the 80s and 90s. But when I hear about young people or children, especially children, it absolutely is devastating.

They all should really be a lesson: your house can be rebuilt. Your life cannot. Evacuate when they say to.
