I did the same thing I went to NJ. Got out and started pumping. Some guy came up and got all angry asking me, "What do you think you're doing?!" I replied, "Pumping gas." He then saw my plate chuckled and explained that it's illegal to pump your own gas in NJ.

mac5155 wrote:My grandma doesnt either, at least she doesnt know how to do the newer ones. That one I referenced above is the only place she'll go. Shes also pushing 80, but still sharp as a tack.

You would think after so long they would assume the people doing it are obviously out of state and don't know the law. Every story I've heard (here or in person) has them being yelled at.

shmenguin wrote:so can anyone say, specifically, which resources are behind withheld to places like staten island because of the marathon? that's a little unclear to me. the hotel thing i get, but it's not like, "we can't give you bottled water because it's for the runners" or "we can't send the red cross or fema because they'll be busy with the marathon". i mean...i appreciate the sentiment that the race is kind of silly right now, and maybe i'm off way here, but it seems like kind of a broad brush stroke to say the race shouldn't happen because other people need its resources.
