haddon township, NJ. 15 minute drive to philly and a 5 second drive in any direction to functional power lines. basically, my block is down, and no one else's is, so PSE&G doesn't give a crap about our piddly outage. when we lost power, the second that i looked out my window and saw houses all around me with power, i knew we were royally screwed.

Yeah, I'm familiar with the area (lived in Lindenwold a relatively long time ago)...that's really unfortunate, just bad luck...hopefully they surprise you sooner than your projected date there, that's really rough...

My suggestion: get a really long extension cord and plug it in one block down...

I hope you're staying warm, somehow. We had hot water and gas (stove) the whole time, so that made it easier.

btw, I know quiet a few people who's houses got either swept or completely destroyed, so whatever hardship I went through or you guys are going through for the moment, keep the perspective that it could have been a whole lot worse.

Yeah, I'm hardly one of the real victims. Staying with family close by. Aside from the general hassle of being displaced, losing the contents of my fridge and missing a couple weeks of TV is all I'm dealing with.

The power company posted the full outage report for my area. Only 64 houses (less than 1% of my town) are without power - including casa del shmenguin. They also officially have no plan on fixing my block. I would buy one of those 10kW natural gas generators right now if I knew it would be installed tomorrow.

That's two earthquakes in the mid Atlantic in a little more than a year. Clearly, global warming is to blame!

Small magnitude earthquakes are actually a lot more common than people think in our neck of the woods.

Aunt has been w/o power since the storm hit Monday and got almost 10 inches of heavy wet snow last night, which brought down more trees and wires. I think this is in Toms River, she lives in Bayville.

Anyone else think this is what the national Guard should be for? Not fighting wars in other countries but to respond to domestic disasters.

And no matter who's in the White House. FEMA is a joke. Too much bureaucracy. I didn't blame Bush for Katrina as that was a complete foul up start to finish by local government and there is nothing Obama can do here other than what he's done to allow funds to be released. But when the people who are supposed to help you recover in a weather related disaster close up shop due to the weather, something is broken.
