He was awful and was their most effective offense this side of Robinson in the game. Looking forward to seeing what they can do next year. Robinson looks like he's gonna be legit.

I hate Lamar Patterson so much that it makes my skin crawl that he is probably going to be the leader of the team next year that is going to be in the ACC. I expect Pitt to be a .500 team at best in the ACC next year.

There's a huge debate on Dixon right now on the Fan from when I popped in. Personally, I feel the team has reached the point where just getting to the NCAA and grossly underachieving is not a good thing. Dixon has all kinds of regular season wins, but recruiting plays a big part at the tourney. Consistently doing average isn't doing the team any favors, that and not letting them even play a semblance of entertaining basketball.

That's pretty much how I feel as well. The program has stagnated. Recruiting has improved, but the results haven't. I'm not sure if a coach other than Dixon is the coach to take them to the next level, but I am finally willing to find out. This team doesn't just lose in the tournament, they implode.

Brandin Knight was the player that I got me started and kept me watching Pitt basketball. Still my favorite player from Pitt.

Pitt needs to start scheduling some legitimate out of conference games instead of playing 12 **** teams at home every year

I often wonder if that's why Pitt plays so tight in important games. Too many cupcakes early on.

if Pitt wants to progress as a program, that's a crappy hire imo. The head coach is half the battle in NCAA bb because of recruiting. Any serious hopes of becoming an elite in the ACC starts with a name at HC

I also think they play way too many cupcakes. To me they need to be challenged more than just a few good teams in the Big East. Have to figure out how to respond when challenged in big games.

Dejan says his next column asks hard questions of Pitt, which is as clear a sign I can think of that Dixon's leaving for USC. He's gotten the kid gloves treatment since Pitt fans/media have been afraid they might scare him out of town. Now that they know he's bolting there's no reason to pull punches.

Even then, the Big East schedule has become predictable. Beat the scrub teams while enduring a stupid loss. Beat Georgetown, UConn, and Syracuse because Pitt matches up well with them. Lose to Marquette, Notre Dame, and Louisville. Nova and Cincy are a toss up. Year after year its the same damn script.
