What's the problem? New movie in a beloved franchise that was envisioned as 3 trilogies. Maybe it sucks, maybe its awesome, but I will see it. Can't be worse than I-III.

This might be the best thing that could happen to Star Wars. The further away George Lucas is from Star Wars, the better it gets. Says he's still a creative consultant, but that doesn't explain how involved he will be.

The article mentioned what Disney did with Marvel, so based on that, I approve.

disney bought marvel for one reason - toys for boys. the marvel cinematic universe was started by marvel, paramount, and merrill lynch.

theyre buying lucasfilm for the exact same reason. im cautiously optimistic.

So is it going to be pre-I through III or between the 2 trilogies?

It would either be after the 2 trilogies (Episode 7) or set in the Old Republic.

Please, for the love of god, make it in the Old Republic. There is so much GREAT MATERIAL there that you quite literally could never run out of good story lines.

Old Republic would be good if they start from the 1st KOTOR game, unless there's more before that.

These are my thoughts. Lucas had such a great idea and story, but him making it into film, especially the prequel, sucked. He was more hands off with the Empire Strikes Back, which is why I think that one was the best. His dialougue is just pooh.

From my understanding just from past interviews, he always pictured a 9 episode adventure. These new ones I think will take place after the Return of the Jedi. I remember back in college reading an interview where he had a vision that there was still war in the galaxy and different governers (ie. guys like Tarkin) were still fighting the Republic for galatic supremecy.

Who knows.

Like someone else said, this may suck, but my bet is that with Disney now running this, and the way Iron Man and the Avengers have turned out, this could be a great things.

Agree. I think the prequel would have been awesome.

Complete steal considering they'll probably get a billion out of episode 7 alone... Radically hellacious this news is

The Star Wars Canon goes all the way back to 25,000 years before the battle of Yavin 4 (Episode 4). The Old Republic game with Revan was 4,000 years before the battle of Yavin 4. There are endless characters, races and story lines to use. Revan would be an amazing bad guy to portray on screen though. Would love to see Exar Kun, the Sith Invasion, The Mandalorians and endless other races and characters on screen!

Don't know about yinz guys, but I'm looking forward to eventually visiting the Indiana Jones-Star Wars-Marvel amusement park. I'd call it Indiana Marvel Wars World.
