I guess, I mean I know their importance in music history. I don't necessarily understand it since I don't think their music was anything special, but yeah.

I second this sentiment. While I certainly wouldn’t say I hate the Beatles, neither would I say I like their music. Their early stuff is saccharine pop music and once they started taking drugs and stuff it got weird and stupid. I can’t imagine anyone who’s not on drugs liking the song “Come Together,” for example.

i really like Flo Rida for some reason. as a Caucasian in his early to mid 30's, i can't imagine i'm in his demographic. but "Club Can't Handle Me" is a really good song. screw you guys. i also can't really hate Ke$ha because she is so dumb to take seriously.

You've mentioned this before and I'm just curious - is it Bobby's voice, the comparitive simplicity of the songs, or something else? I was always more of a Hunter/Garcia fan myself, and never really cared for John Perry Barlow, but I do appreciate most of Bobby's work.

Combination of a few factors. It's not the songs themselves, necessarily. I think Jerry and especially Pigpen's best playing came out in his songs. I just genuinely dislike his voice, hate Donna Jean (who tended to be more noticeable during his songs) and found the standard traveling songs to be too formulaic. Every song was the same idea and feel, like mad libs with a different town name and protagonist. That's not to say I hate all of his songs or skip them when they come on. I absolutely love Truckin, Estimated Prophet, Samson and Delilah, And Sugar Magnolia. I personally just prefer Jerry's songs and thought Weir singing took away from Pigpen as well, who I prefer when it comes to bluesy numbers.

I kinda asked for SONGS that, like, play on the radio all the time and that's why they're popular. But OK. We can go with entire bands.

I only get 107.9 here at work and listen to XM radio and sports talk in the car, so I don't really know what the popular songs on mainstream radio are now.
