after watching a few quarters of that bum that backs up michael vick, heftwhich should be considered a luxury. at least he can throw the ball downfield.

Tebow sucks BTW.

But i'll do you one better Godric, its truly pathetic that before Ben came around the Steelers went 21 years without a true successor to Terry Bradshaw. They went over two decades without drafting a franchise QB unless you think David Woodley, Cliff Stoudt, Todd Blackledge, Mark Malone, Bubby Brister, Neil O' Donnell, Kordell Stewart, Kent Graham and Tommy Maddox were franchise QB's. I don't. They could of drafted a franchise QB in Dan Marino but passed on him because they wanted to rebuild the team through defense despite the fact that Bradshaw was 35 in 1983 and no real successor in the waiting to replace him.

To me that's pathetic, but what you saying is bad as well.

Yeah, I know Tebow sucks but I'd still rather have him than Leftwich

and yes, I know about the steelers QB history and its depressing as hell

I think the idea of young guys needing playing time to fully develop is so overrated. I mean, Aaron Rodgers rode the bench for three years and did pretty well for himself the first year he was called on to lead the team. You don't need to be the starter to learn the playbook and the Xs&Os behind football. The three hour window a QB has on Sunday is small compared to the amount of preparation done 50+ hours a week throughout the rest of the year.

Rodgers was brought in when they knew the Favre clock was running out. If they draft a guy to groom into a starting QB, that means they expect the clock to be up on Ben soon.

Rodgers sat for a few years and that turned out well. Would have have been as effective his rookie year as guys like Ben, Rivers, Matt Ryan, etc? Probably, but maybe not.

I don't think it would have hurt Luck to sit behind Manning this season and next, but he's showing right now he didn't need that. Hopefully he progresses some more next year.

Ben is 30, he probably has another 5-6 seasons... maybe less

The steelers draft for needs to win now with ben at the helm. they arent going to waste a draft pick to prepare for 5 years down the road. the notion is just silly. when you have a franchise QB, you backfill with experienced veteran qb's that already know the system, the nfl, and can work as a temporary backstop.

I don't think that we even need to think about drafting a qb for AT LEAST 4 more years. Too many holes on both sides of the ball to waste a premium pick on a guy who will probably be a free agent before he plays for us.

We drafted Dixon?

There is no reason why we can't draft a very Athletically versatile QB

and use him as a TE/Back

What?? Because I don't like this guy in particular I hate all talented athletes? How does that even relate? There were a few posts saying "Everyone hates Ben/I love Ben" so I just threw in my 2cents.

I'm pretty sure, its happened before...

A team drafts a QB and uses him at a different position

Nobody you pick up in a late round is going to be any better than batch or leftwich. and it's not worth using an early round pick on something that isn't an immediate need.

Also, anyone who is still unsigned at week 12 is any better than leftwich

Leftwich will do fine if he takes 75-85% of reps this week in practice. Get a feel for the timing better and all that. No worries.

He was with them up until last week. If anything, I think they were trying to protect intel.
