To really quantify how unlikely it is to win the jackpot, consider that if every single person that bought a ticket pooled every single ticket purchased in an effort to split the winnings among themselves equally (~$100?), they still wouldn't have won the jackpot.

It would be nearly impossible to do this with a $425 million dollar jackpot, but...

I've always thought the key would be to hold your ticket until a bigger jackpot was claimed. That way you'd be the 'lessor story' and would probably get overlooked.

Either that or wait until a HUGE news day, and hope you got burried on page 26.

The proxy has been allowed in PA for years. I don't think people realized that.

The couple in Cranberry that won some huge amount used a proxy to claim their winnings. But eventually, their names came out. Winners names are in the public domain, a little research is all it takes to find out who won.

But by using the proxy, that gives you time to flee (like they did) until everything died down.
