Nerds to the rescue:

How Much Would It Cost To Build The Death Star?
http://www.centives.net/S/2012/how-much ... eath-star/

According to the rough calculations, it would take money equal to 13,000 times the world's GDP to pay for the steel alone, and at current production rates, it would take 833,315 years to make the steel. Also, while there is enough iron on Earth to make the steel if we tap into the Earth’s molten core, there isn’t enough coal in the Earth’s crust to make the coke necessary to produce the steel required.

And the crazy thing is that their calculations may be off by a significant factor. Most of the materials available since the films were released cite an 'official' diameter of ~120 km for DS I and ~160 km for DS II. But that's only 74.5 and 99 miles, respectively. There is pre-production art from Ep IV that shows the station as being 100 miles across. If that's the accurate figure and they are scaled the same way, then DS II was actually more like 130 miles across.

Can a F35 make the Kessel Run in less than 12 parsecs? I didn't think so.

Did you know the parsec is a measure of distance and not of time?

And I'm not entirely sure the F-35 can do anything other than run over schedule and over budget.
