Less than two weeks to go until Spain. Very excited!

So sorry, I completely bailed on this thread and missed your reply. Thank you very much, but one of the graphic designers I work with actually re-took the photo for me in the office. He's an amateur photographer and just happened to have his gear in his car.

Forgot to include my old passport in the renewal application (derp), and so had to send it in separately (with another 2nd day air/morning delivery charge!). Thankfully, there was no delay and I got my new passport three weeks to the day after mailing my renewal. Old passport was returned a week later.

I'm going to be in Madrid for 4 days in June, and Barcelona for 4 days. Planning to take a one-day trip from Madrid to Toledo. Also thinking of taking one of those all-day tours from Barcelona to the Salvador Dali Museum and Dali's house. I think seeing the Costa Brava (which is part of the trip) would also be cool. Has anyone done that day trip?

So I was in Las Vegas back in March.

While staying at The Cosmopolitan (great hotel), I joined the Identity players club. Didn't think anything of it.

The other day in the mail I received a pamphlet from the hotel. Usually I throw that stuff away, but I opened it.

As an offer to new Identity members, the Cosmspolitan is offering 2 free nights. And $70 free play. I'm going to look into this a little more, but if it is legit, it looks like I'm going back to Vegas for my birthday. LOL

Toledo is certainly worth a trip, but it tends to be really crowded. I personally enjoyed Segovia and Avila more than Toledo.

Why is that? This is mostly an art and architecture trip for me, and Toledo seems to be excellent in that regard.

I got to stay at the Cosmo a couple of years ago for work and WOW. Rooms are beyond great, the location is perfect -- right in the middle of the Strip, and the options for food and play are really good too. I'd stay there more often if the price tag wasn't so high and if my reasons for being there were on the Strip rather than in the suburbs.

Oh, it is. The cathedral is stunning and the city is beautiful. So, I'm not saying skip Toledo, but if you'd find the time you could make additional trips to those places (Segovia for its aqueduct and cathdreal, Avila for its city walls). But I guess finding the time for another day trip would be difficult given Madrid's many great museums.

I'm going to be heading to Croatia and the French Riveria the first week of May. Couldn't be more excited about it right now. Doing Zagreb/Plitvice/Zadar in Croatia, then Nice, Monaco, and Ventimiglia (Italy). I think in total its about 9 days with traveling, but its my wife's first trip outside of North America, so needless to say, she's a little nervous about the flight.

Has anyone ever been to any of the places I mentioned? Any tips?

I haven't been, but I've heard the Croatian coast is beautiful.

And thanks, Gaucho, for the info. I don't think I'll have time for Segovia. I wish I had a month to be in Spain.

Same for me, I have never been there, my great grandparents are from there, and I just found the town where they were from along with a village in that town that has my family name. It's only a 20-minute detour during one of our day-trips, so we're definitely going to do it.

Do you know anyone there now? We met up with my old lady's relatives in Norway last year and it made the trip much better. You get to learn so much more about the country and the people by knowing someone there.

I love Croatia, but npv happens to visit exactly the places I haven't been to ... and would love to go to myself one day. The Dalmatian coast and the islands are just fabulous.

Depending on time of day. Breakfast before 1, burger afterwards.

So I decided where I'm going for my birthday mini-vacation.

Cooperstown.

Not so much for the Baseball Hall of Fame. Moreso because the Ommegang Brewery is there. As well as a number of other breweries and wineries. And I've heard it's a nice little town.

Staying at Lake Front Hotel with a room that has a view of Lake Otsego.

Anyone been to Cooperstown? Any dining recommendations?
