Are You Ready for Some Football - Steelers/Cowboys

Postby blackjack68 on Sun Dec 16, 2012 10:07 am

We will likely see AB, Woodley and Troy playing gimpy, but playing.

Ben has likely shaken off the rust and will come out strong unlike last week.

At this point we control our playoff fate. Win out and we're in.

Lose one and we are in trouble.

The Bengals have already won this week, so we need to get it done.

Let's hope Turnover Tony shows up, not Touchdown Tony from last week.

Here We Go Steelers!

Spoiler:
(disclaimer, normally I would start this thread closer to 10:30 for a 4:15 game, but I don't want anyone else shouldering the burden of starting a thread in a losing effort...ahem, shad, ahem.)

OK, no, I hope you get steamrolled and the Redskins' loss today is the first step towards you finishing behind the Browns in the standings.

Happy?

This game likely doesn't mean as much as people think...

As long as Steelers beat Cinci / win 1 of 2 against Cowboys / Browns they should be in...

Only scenario they won't is if Colts lose out, Jets win out... Then it would come down to who has better record against common opponents between Colts / Steelers. Which I don't feel like figuring out lol

I don't see that scenario coming reality, but I guess if they have to win 1 of 2 in the Browns / Boys games... Why not today, it'd be nice to not have to worry about a week 17 collapse against Cleveland ending our season

best case scenario, we win this week, tie next week, and beat cleveland week 17, and baltimore loses out. then we win the division, and cincinatti gets in as a wild card.

Really strange game. Cowboys have been hot; emotional influence due to a drunken POS killing a team mate. In addition the Steelers have had the most bi-polar season I've seen in years. You can't use injuries as an excuse but the Steelers have been more cursed this year than most of their teams for decades. I agree with Starkey's column. I think Tomlin's done a good job all things considered.
Considering that the Steelers have lost Ike and now Allen it could get ugly. In addition the black and gold have been hit by the flu bug late in the week. I won't be surprised however this game goes.

At some point in time you have to get your **** together going into the playoffs. The Steelers pissed away an easy win last week. At some point it becomes does it matter if you get into the playoffs? Are you capable of your A game for more than one game in a row?
The steelers have yet to answer that with a yes.

This makes me want to barf. Despite this years disappointment I was at least consoled by the thought that this was the last season for Hampton, Colon, Wallace and Rashard. Why the Hell does Tomlin want this underachieving head case back?

Its not, but if they lose that game they are out no matter what. That game because of tie breaker / team we're directly competing about is a 100% complete must win.

If want to argue need to get stuff together / momentum, etc fine, but from a standings viewpoint, all we need is to beat cinci (a must) AND win 1 of other 2. People are acting like its a must win from standings, but not looking at how it really plays out because of that all important cinci game

Steelers don't talk contracts during the season... so no clue where that came from. As for next season, yea sure... I'm sure they'll offer him something (back up $), he won't accept it

Not a must win from a standings standpoint but if you can't win a road game at this point does it matter? Last year they got beat by a good high school QB in what may have been one of the most embarassing playoff loss of alltime.
That clown could not win the QB job from a dreadful Jets team.(who ciuld still theoretically get in the playoffs.

This year it doesn't really matter who the Steelers play. We've shown we can beat (or lose to) almost every team. So let's see who shows up this week. I think the team will be up for a game in Dallas, and the Steelers roll to a 10 or 11 point win.

Yea, exactly... How they look against bad teams compared to good teams is almost mind-blowing

This would be the worst decision since they gave Kordell that extension after he cried on the sidelines after being pulled. Hopefully it's BS.

Sure hope the Steelers win today. Ravens practically giving the division away.

I just fear what will happen with that decimated secondary.
