Gotta dump Hampton next. Foote as well.

A LeBeau 3-4 base needs a big, athletic tackle and middle linebackers that can stop the run and get after the quarterback. What you're suggesting leaves us with Steve McLendon and Stevenson Sylvester in the middle with Timmons... In that scenario, from a personnel perspective, the Steelers can't field a 3-4 without adding some depth in free agency.

McClendon was a better player than Hampton last year and possibly the year before that. Both Foote and Farrior played in the 220 range; both dropped weight to increase their quickness. Sean Spence may have been the ideal player for them if he hadn't totalled his knee. His knee injury was such that it's quite possible he'll never play again.

Harrison refused a 30% pay cut with incentives to earn his full salary

That seems like a reasonable offer

I loved Harrison as a Steeler but I also loved Lloyd, Kirkland, Brown, Greene, etc.

The Steelers look like a team that's going to finish worse then 8-8. I love how we appear to be wasting Ben's best years.

roethlisberger has been an instrumental part in wasting those "best years".

They should have upped that to a 50% cut, cause he only plays 50% of the year. He's had chronic back issues, it's questionable that he'd be giving the team anything going forward.

I believe the working of Colon's contract makes it so that there is more savings to the cap by cutting him later. I thought I read somewhere that he would only save us like 600k if cut not but after a certain point in the offseason would save us significantly more. Not sure how that works tho

They'd save 1M if they cut Colon now; they'd save $5m if they cut him after June 1, but there would be a $4m cap hit for 2014. This team isn't going anywhere this season; what's the point of clearing cap room to sign free agents in June after all the good free agents are gone? Why not take the hit this year and try to have as little dead money as possible for 2014 so you can go after players and finally not be in cap trouble? This makes me think the Steelers have no intention of ditching Colon, and this makes me angry.

Haggans, Bell, Holmes, Kevin Greene, Gildon, Porter, Kirkland, Lloyd

All linebackers who were with the Steelers who were either released or unsigned by the Steelers. I was still surprised to see Harrison resigned in the first place, so I'm kind of indifferent to whether he's here next year or not.

Meh.

Pretty much everyone seems to say Miami will sign Wallace early tomorrow. Antonio Brown's just about finished his "I can't get open any longer" dance.

Just came out that the Steelers didn't even offer Keenan Lewis a contract. Good work.

colbert and tomlin were seen at a pirates spring training game yesterday yukking it up with neil huntington. you would think a stunt like that on the first day of free agency would irk stiller fans

They are just learning the tricks of the trade from the best management team in baseball :pop:

EDIT: Or they were escorting Wallace to Miami to send him off
