There's going to be a group of people that go to the bar after work almost every day. Avoid these people. Unless your boss is one of them. Then go only once in a while. And drink one fewer than she.

Encourage the admin assistant to publish a birthday list to provide opportunities to hone this new skill.

Be proactive with the people that are respected in your company and figure out what makes them tick. Find a mentor fast.

Get there real early to make sure you're there, but don't go in until 10-15 minutes before you start. You'll feel like an idiot if you're late or if you're there too early.

Thats always vital to me.
