Go to a physical therapist. In PA, you get 30 days direct access where you don't need a script. Find a hot PT and go visit her, she will do all the tests and give you a quick suggestion. That way you'll be sure if you need to go see an ortho doc or somethin.

Loaf-the swelling was gone by this am. And my knee improved through the day. Still getting it checked.

When I blew mine out I had three doctor's visits.

First to my general practicioner or whatever it's called. He recommended a specialist. So then I went to a knee/orthopedic specialist. He recommended an MRI. So then I go get the MRI and I had an ACL tear. So I'm not sure if there's a way to skip one of those steps or what, but it'd be nice to go straight to the MRI. The MRI costs over a grand, btw. I think in the neighborhood of $1500. I should've gone to school to be a radiologist.

My pain and swelling lasted several days.

What you really want to avoid is miniscus damage. That can't be repaired. They can cut away the damaged part, but they can't put any back. I left my ACL torn and wear a knee brace for hockey, but leave it off for everything else (basketball, soccer, motorcycling, weight training, etc.).

I just got back. Relax! LOL

Pulled hamstring. Rest, heating pad, compression shorts or wrap. No high impact workouts for 3 - 4 weeks. Pilates workouts are fine (Doc was happy I was doing Pilates), kettlebell workouts fine. Can do some light walking on a treadmill, or low intensity biking on a stationary bike.

Told me I had arthritis in both knees. Told him I used to run, a lot, back in the day before good street running shoes were available. He said he's seen a lot of that in people "our age". He also told me I barely have a meniscus left in either knee. Wear and tear and arthritis taking its' toll.

I don't think having hardly any miniscus left in either knee is a minor problem. I think that's worse than having an ACL tear.

I was referring to the hammie issue. The miniscus issue was there no matter what. I'd rather have no surgery than reconstruction surgery

Actually, the doctor was pretty matter of fact when telling me and didn't seem too concerned. He said as long as I wasn't having pain, or any mobility issues, no need to do anything. Probably because they can't.
