Super Bowl XLVII - GDT

Postby blackjack68 on Sun Feb 03, 2013 2:11 am

That magical day is here. Super Bowl.

I have blocks in three different pools. And that's mainly what is going to keep me interested in this game.

Here are some rules for the Super Bowl Drinking Game:
1) Anytime anyone mentions the brothers, DRINK! (You'll be wasted by the first completion.)
2) Anytime someone mentions Ray-Ray's retirement, DRINK.
3) Any beer commercial, DRINK.

I think that should do the trick.

Really torn on this game, but I'll be rooting for the 49ers.

Enjoy all!

I like heads for the coin flip.

Ravens for the first, first down.

Niners for the first score.

If you ain't rooting for the 49'ers you should hand in yer Yinzer credentials.

The last thing that I want to see today is Ray-Ray going out as Super Bowl champion.

Yinzer worst nightmare: Lewis gets a championship and decides to return next year, declaring that God told him to defend the title.

I bet the Ravens (+4) and the Ravens alternate spread (-3.5). I'll probably do a couple random prop bets today.

Prop bets: http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/blog/nfl-m ... -the-stars

[*]Bet: How long will Alicia Keys take to sing the National Anthem? (Line: Over/under 2 minutes, 15 seconds)
Taking the under. Alicia might have the ability to drag out a song, but last year's anthem came in somewhere around 1:45. I'm not gonna say there's no way she tacks on another 30 seconds, but whoever did it last year even had to drag the song to get it to 1:45

[*]Bet: Will Alicia Keys add at least one word to the National Anthem? (Line: Yes +200, No -300)
Gonna say no. There might be a botched word or making one word last 10 seconds, but nothing will be added.

[*]Bet: Will Beyoncé be joined by Jay-Z on stage at halftime of the Super Bowl? (Line: Yes +110, No -150)
This is a tough one. Hova loves him some camera time. I'm gonna say no only because this halftime show is on a set schedule.

[*]Bet: Will Beyoncé's hair be curly/crimped or straight at the beginning of the Super Bowl halftime show?
Going with curly.

[*]Bet: What predominant color will Beyoncé's top be at the beginning of the Super Bowl halftime show? Line: Black (9/4), Gold/Yellow (11/4), Silver/Grey (7/2), White (5/1), Red (13/2), Pink (15/2) Orange (12/1), Blue (15/1), Green (15/1)
Neutral color. Taking the safe bet and going with all black.

[*]Bet: What color will the Gatorade (or liquid) be that is dumped on the winning coach? Line: Clear/Water (7/4), Orange (5/2), Yellow (5/2), Green (13/2), Red (13/2) Blue (13/2)
Thinking Ravens might win, so it won't be red. Blue is the closest thing to purple, so I'll take the longshot.

[*]Bet: If Ray Lewis is interviewed after the game on the field or in the locker room how many times will he mention "God/Lord"? Line: Over/under 3
He'll hit three mentions in his first sentence. Taking the over is a no-brainer.

[*]Bet: The first player to score TD. Line:Frank Gore - 13/2; Ray Rice - 7/1; Colin Kaepernick, Michael Crabtree - 8/1, Anquan Boldin, Torrey Smith, and "the field" - 17/2, Vernon Davis - 9/1, Randy Moss - 14/1, Bernard Pierce - 22/1, Ted Ginn, Jr. or Joe Flacco - 33/1. Ray Lewis is listed at 50/1.
Gonna take the safe bet again and say Ray Rice. My favorite, No TD scored, is going off at 75/1.

Too many other prop bets that I'm not gonna spend 2 hrs adding to this post can be found here: http://sports.bovada.lv/sports-betting/ ... -props.jsp

Watching the Puppy Bowl. Not really digging the cross-promotional stuff they're doing by showing people from other shows as "fans".

Where were you the rest of the year?

Every year I buy a $300 box at my local pub.

This year I have:

Forty-niners = 4
Ravens = 7

Given that the final score is worth $15k... I'm holding my breath.

Do NFL'ers have the same aversion to touching the Lombardi that NHL'ers have with not touching the Stanley Cup?

Not really, but I read something that Ray Lewis doesn't want to this time for that reason because who knows.

Ray-Ray should be very thankful that this game is being played in a dome. Surely, if it was 'open air', a lightening bolt would come down from the sky for that sanctimonious BS

Boomer: "....certainly one of the best ever on-field but it's a complex situation."
Shannon: "Why is it complex?"
Boomer: "Because he was involved in a double murder Shannon."

BOOM. That was awesome.

I hear they are starting the intros 5 min early to allow Lewis the appropriate amount of time to dance his way onto the field. I'm surprise Beyonce accepted the half time gig knowing she was going to be upstaged by Ray every time he is involved in a play.
