I know there is some degree of revisionist history to his claims that he planned three trilogies all along...

I clearly remember reading when the first movies were out that the plan was for three trilogies. Never thought I'd see it happen.

So... I'm confused... Are they making episodes 7,8, and 9 in chronological order? Do they take place after the death of the Emperor and follow Skywalker and all those characters or is this an independent trilogy that will take place in a completely different time period in the star wars universe?

Are those two stand-alone films really just about Boba Fett and Yoda? Am i correct in this?

7 8 and 9 are supposed to take place after Return of the Jedi.

The other films, the stand alone ones, will take place following those characters during whatever time period they wish.

I'm torn on the stand alone movies, the rumor says Yoda will be the focus of the first outside of 7,8,9. I hope they can concentrate on a time outside of the movies already released. Like what the prequels did, it can take the mystery and excitement out of the originals.

IMO Darth Maul was one of the best things about the prequel. Duel of Fates in ep 1 was pretty cool

IMO Darth Maul was one of the best things about the prequel. Duel of Fates in ep 1 was pretty cool

I agree. Out of the prequels, he was one of the only bright spots IMO.

When I was discussing it with a friend recently my question to him was "who from the production team will be coming back?" So many people were involved with all six. Will they be interested or even invited back? It's hard to imagine Star Wars without guys like John Williams and Ben Burtt.

yes. i abhor 3D.

star wars fans, and cinema fans in general, want a riveting story. not to say there isnt a place for cinematography on a grand scale because it helps certain films (transformers, avatar) push the story. i'd rather have a basin in animatronics and less special effects/CGI (pipe dream). Movies like the Neverending Story had a good balance of glitz and story--albeit it didnt have to be citizen kane in its writing--it just had to captivate the viewer's imagination.

CGI is evil and lazy. Real puppets and real special effects every day of the week.

I guess I was 20 when the original was released and at the time it was *the* ground breaking movie in terms of special effects.

That must taint my perspective on how I view the SW franchise.

I don't mind some CGI and if used correctly, it is great. But in the prequels, it was overdone and just looked horrible IMO.

Overuse of CGI tries to make up for a weak story. It tries to create excitement where there isn't any. Instead of the legitimate suspense of trying to sneak around the Death Star or escape from Hoth, the new movies have an abundance of futuristic vehicle scenes that are supposed to impress you.

I don't think people hate Darth Maul as much as they hate the fact that his character was almost entirely useless and killed off in a completely silly way.
