I'll take a K after a homer from him.

If a guy's going to hit 35 or more home runs he's going to strike out some. I don't like the looking Ks but Pedro is much improved this year. I'd take .260 and 40 home runs if I could get it even with a bucket full of Ks.

Is it too much to ask for base runners occasionally when we homer?

Seems to be. I just wish we get some hits with RISP for a change.

Is MLB.com off or is Liriano not getting calls?

Seems like he's getting squeezed a little by this ump. Nothing outrageous though.

At least Barmes turned the lineup over and made him throw a few more pitches.

He needs to put on a Yankee uniform to get the expanded strike zone.

Should we mention that Destiny just took a seat next to Liriano?

Some day someone is taking a bat shard to the chest and all hell will break loose.

Was it in the field or stands? It took a fatality to get nets in the NHL. I wonder what the reaction will be when it happens in baseball.

That already happened before. I guess it was a player but still.

What exactly can they do about broken bats, though?

Make them aluminum and complain about the ball speed off the bats. :pop:

They can go to a thicker wood. The bats that have been in use the last 15 or so years are lightweight and are prone to break into the dangerous shards we are seeing. Did you see the divot of dirt that one just took out?

I think signing Liriano and then not bailing when he broke his arm may have worked out for the Pirates.
