Is Byrd juiced? If so, it will put a stain on anything Bucs accomplish from here on out.

Didn't see this posted, but I might have missed it. Vic Black is the PTBNL in the Byrd/Buck trade.

Ken Rosenthal Verified account ‏@Ken_Rosenthal
Now confirmed: Black is indeed PTBN going to #Mets from #Pirates. Byrd, Buck and $250K to Pirates for Black and Herrera.

Dejan actually mentioned something about NH likely doing extensive due diligence on this front. I don't think it's naivete to say the there's no way NH is going to screw this up by trading for a suspect player.

Seeing as how every other team in baseball has had players busted, I'll be happy if the Pirates start doing what other teams are doing.

Trading Black is, to me, not a huge deal.

Huntington finds relievers like there is a store.

He should see if he can return Bryan Morris.

I'd like to think if Byrd was juicing he would have been caught by now, or there would at least be a lot more speculation that he was than what's out there, but who knows.

I thought byrd has already been suspended. Bazaar story of something he took to cover up a condition that gives him man boobs. And said condition is caused by steroids.

Anyway who cares if he's juicing. Also, is it me or is Gaby kinda almost raking this past week?

Wow, I completely forgot about that.

Well, I can't really say I care that much. 20 years of losing while watching everyone else reap the benefits of juicers has kind of made me not care what we do to win. We don't have the luxury that the Penguins or Steelers do in choosing the best high-character guys and passing on anybody who has question marks despite their talent. I think the only way I'll look back at this year any differently would be if we won the WS with Byrd, then continued to do well without any suspect players for several years but never made it back to a championship.

It's about time the Pirates get a juicer. Sounds terrible to say but it's the nature of the beast and is a statement about where the game has devolved to. Plus, if he gets tested and has a positive result, he'll appeal and will start the 100 game ban or whatever a second offense is next season. Dude is a beast though.

your statement is faulty to the extent that we dont know if any of the current pirates are juicers.

If any of the current Pirates are juicers, then they're doing it wrong.

Pretty much, I think he's the first baseman for at least the near future. Even if he cools off he at least gives you a solid AB most of the time which is really nice to see.
