I feel vindicated as one of the people wanting to lose Hanrahan in the offseason. Great move, happy that Grilli had stepped up

Going 6-2 (with 1 rainout) against CIN, STL, ATL on this homestand with 1 to go is a great start. This first month was supposed to be Armageddon for this team and they've exceeded expectations.

Jonathan Sanchez is going tomorrow. Plus Melancon has pitched in 2 straight games so he'll be unavailable in the 8th because Hurdle absolutely needed him to pitch with a 6 run lead.

Yes, if we beat those odds then print the tickets.

I like Hanrahan and he was great in 2011 but closers generally aren't worth $7M.

The issue with the Hanrahan trade wasn't that he was moved, the issue was - Why Move him for that Return?

Thankfully the back of the bullpen hasn't missed a beat with Melancon, but that was essentially a package of AAAAers who are going to be organizational scrubs for a couple of years.

Didn''t care much for Hurdle's lineup last night, taking Snider, Alvarez and Jones out so that he could get McKenry in there? I hope all three are back today and continue to hit. I'm certainly not an expert, but I do have functional observation skills, you do not bench Alvarez when he is getting on a hot streak. There's two things that I know about Alvarez, he hits better in the 6th spot and his HR's come in bunches.

Given Hanrahan's performance this year I think people should ask Boston why they gave up so much for him.

So has anyone paid attention to Pimentel's season so far? I don't think he's gonna be a AAAA scrub.

Isn't this his third year in AA? I'd still say he's on a AAAA trajectory.

He had 37 AA starts before this year. That's pretty much one season. And he's 23. I'd love for all of our pitchers to be dominating the majors at 23 like Kershaw, but I'll let it slide if he waits till he's 25.

Can still point to sample size, I mean if you want to point at Pimentel as something, we should probably annoint Allie the next Ryan Howard and label Hanson a bust.

Huh? lol all I'm saying is that he's had a good year without anyone noticing. He was previously a high rated prospect, and the Sox rushed him through. His second half of AA ball was tons better than the first half, and now that he's on a normal track for a 23 year old, he's doing very well.

Troy man what's up?

Bullpen "hasn't missed a beat with the addition of Melancon" yet "we traded Hanrahan for scrubs"... wasn't that the main piece of the trade?

You didn't care much for the lineup yesterday... we went with the righty lineup, only questionable decision was sitting Alvarez as he's heating up but I can understand not wanting him to get thrown off by a lefty who has been lights out this year. Most teams would sit most if not all of their leftys in that situation...

One minute you're complaining Pimentel is in his 3rd year of AA, the next you're saying his AA sample size is too small to deduce anything?

Dejan Kovacevic ✅ ‏@Dejan_Kovacevic 59m
#Pirates today vs. #Braves: Marte 7, Snider 9, McCutchen 8, Jones 3, Walker 4, Alvarez 5, Martin 2, Barmes 6, J. Sanchez 1

Apparently Hopeless hasn't done enough to play himself out of the lineup yet.

Pena should have struck out, but instead is on first base. These things happen against Atlanta.

Ump thought he was helping Atlanta by squeezing Sanchez again, but instead Upton struck out and Martin threw out the runner for the DP.
