Sanchez hits one guy, gets thrown out. Lynn almost hits Marte in the head once, and hits him in the arm a couple pitches later and only gets a warning. Cool.

I was just about to compliment Gomez on how well he was pitching this year and then a walk and a wild pitch and run scored happens.

So if Jonathon Sanchez always had an ear to ear smile and talked in a cute accent, would everyone account his play to bad defense and perfect swings from the offense??

I go out for one night and you people let this happen. I guess I can forget about having a social life. Though of course the Pirates would get drubbed after someone complained about the ESPN power rankings.

We're really calling for Jordy **** Mercer right now? Get real, the guy's a nobody and always will be.

What about the 34 year old never-was that's in our lineup?

?

Isn't that what you get from most shortstops? Take the .240 career average in exchange for solid defense and making tough plays look easy?

Can Jordy do any of that?

I mean, the #1 thing I want the Pirates to acquire is another late innings bullpen arm, but the #2 thing is a starting SS that's better with the bat and maybe a little worse in the field. Then get rid of John Mcdonald and put Barmes on the bench and use as a late inning defensive replacement.

Jordy Mercer is not that guy

yippy skippy to sanchez being in the bullpen tonight. to top off his ruining ballgames for himself, he'll have the opportunity to ruin it for other starters as well.

If he actually hit. 240 I would agree.

He is appealing, probably with the argument that he is so bad that he couldn't actually hit someone in the head on purpose.

Dejan with a tweet that is actually somewhat funny:
National League’s 14 other teams also appealing Jonathan Sanchez suspension.

I'd be quite surprised if Sanchez is still a Pirate when that suspension ends.. Seems like a good situation to keep him today in case AJ blows up, run him out there to save the pen if that would happen. Otherwise just DFA him and move on. They'll already need someone else to take the ball on Wednesday anyway and the next time through Liriano should be ready.

Originally I was hoping Sanchez would take Gomez's spot as the long man (when/if everyone is healthy) but there's no way that should happen.

He also said the Cards were appealing Sanchez's ejection. Yeah, boring.

Cards have runners on 1st and 3rd with none out in the first. AJ wants me to take a nap today.

Get out of the inning only giving up a run. Good work by AJ to limit the carnage. Why is Tabata playing instead of Snider today?
