his reasoning was wrong. his implication was that the TV money would boost johnson's value and lead to a bidding war for johnson's service. Johnson's contract is not inflated at all. $8M for one year is about as reasonable as it comes in MLB. Johnson based his decision on what venue would grant him the greatest opportunity to rebound. Thus, taking a one year deal to pitch in petco park.

haha, not serious at all

I just wanted to see if the idea sounded just as dumb typing it as it did when I read it.

I agree. The reports have said as much. His home is in Las Vegas and he preferred to be on the west coast.

If the goal is to sign a 1 year deal and get good stats in hopes of signing a LT deal with a contending team, I could think of worse places to spend a year than SD.

Yeah Tim Williams is a **** writer, he just so happened was in the right place at the right time when he started Pirates Prospects. But seriously, all he does is hammer and hammer and hammer home his Sabrmetric-based opinions. He literally only takes something somebody else said and sabrmetrically analyzes it.

Considering how little free time a baseball player has, does the "home" climate really matter?

I am curious as to what Jhonny Peralta will command. I wouldnt mind having him at SS Walker at 2B and allowing Mercer to platoon at both. Peralta was making 6M last season I believe.

The Pirates called Lance Berkman. He's stated he is leaning towards retirement.

The 2014 promotional schedule is out. Looks a little lighter than past seasons.

They did the same last year. The schedule comes out in early September for the next year.
