I was Marmol watching. Pleasantly surprised he didn't self-immolate. I guess I got carried away.

Carry on then. Marmol watching is always enjoyable.

Duke Welker brought up, just have to hope he throws strikes when he gets into a game. He has some pretty unhittable stuff, on the year for AAA he's given up 3 hits in 16 innings.

Nice I was hoping to see him soon. Our bullpen needs a break.

Harrison back to Indy with Welker up. Hope that means Martin's neck is good to go. Without him and Walker the lineup pretty much dies after the cleanup spot.

Should be a good pitching matchup today with F-Her against AJ Burnett. I'm also morbidly curious to see what El Blimpo does against a good pitcher when Harang owned him last night.

after barmes hit a 410 foot home run against strasburg, nothing should be surprising

Marte with a double to start the game. I get that he's not an ideal leadoff hitter and his power is wasted to some degree...but it's working.

1-0 Bucs, Cutch brings home Marte. Are we done panicking about Cutch?

Well, obviously the McCutchen whining was ridicuolous. Alvarez is still on a similar pace as to last year...but he needs to show signs of life soon or i'll start to have some concern.

Cutch nearly disappeared for most of the second half of last year and wasn't very Cutch-like so far (granted he was still one of our best players). It's okay to ask questions about the guy that's supposed to carry the team.

His April numbers were similar to previous Aprils, and all of his peripherals (walk rate, swing/miss rate, etc.) were the same as last year. He was simply unlucky with balls being put into play and it's normalizing now, just like how things normalized on him last year when he couldn't sustain a pace that only Bonds on steroids could sustain.

He dropped off in the second half compared to his unsustainable numbers up to that point. His overall line last year was still MVP caliber, I would say that your expectations are too high for any ML baseball player.

He hit .250 from August to October. I get that you can't hit .400 every month but saying it was just "bad luck" ignores that he had some bad at bats as did many of his team mates. He's a superstar, no question saying he's not his usual self isn't panicking.

And borderline utility infielders. It would be nice to see them develop a legit starting pitcher at the ML level right now (cole and taillon aside), but it's hard to complain when they could conceivably have 2 homegrown all star outfielders.

Burnett has 5 K through 3 innings. Hope he can keep it up since King Felix has decided one run allowed is more than enough.

Burnett has decided control is for losers by walking the first two batters in the 4th. This team drives me nuts.

Pretty bad sign for Hopeless that they asked him to bunt with the pitcher on deck.
