Which also makes me question why we let someone in the rotation that can only throw 70 pitches but whatever. The cavalry is coming

Inge now in the game because Inge is required by law to get in a game at some point.

No other options at the moment. Morton, Karstens, Irwin and McPherson and are all hurt.

Tie game because the Pirates pitchers still haven't totally figured out walks are bad.

The Pirates better get a lead in the eighth because that's the only way we'll see Melancon and Grilli.

They're both on pace for like 90 innings this year. We see them plenty enough.

The story is that Jeanshorts had a calf problem.

Nice AB by Tabata to strike out tamely with two on.

Justin Wilson can now pick up the MATW win, namely giving up the lead and being the last pitcher on the mound before the Bucco offense plates the go-ahead run.

Melancon is offended at the notion of Wilson scumbagging this win. The Fort feels the same.

Was Duda crawling to first base?

Inge could have thrown the ball to third and they still could have had Duda at first.

Three out of four at Citi Field, where they have won only five times since it opened.

Now, back to PNC park for a 10 game homestand.

Karstens is supposed to start his rehab assignment tomorrow.

If Morton ever gets healthy, the Pirates will have themselves quite a nice array of starters at their disposal.

Pirates are good I think.

Results are similar to last year, but the process has been way, way better. This recipe is much for long-term success than last year's.

21-16 and the starting rotation is a bit of a mess, the middle relievers are just OK, and the team's best hitter is currently the team's worst hitter. Gutting out wins in spite of all that.

Relatively easy homestand with Brewers for 4, Houston for 3, Cubs for 3. Win 7 of those shouldn't be too hard, can be 28-19 after that.

Don't say things like that. Every time someone gets positive about the Pirates they hear it and turn to crap.

Thank heavens this guy isn't the GM. You really want to committ $35M to Marte already? You can make a very similar deal years from now and have much much more certainty about performance.
