I don't feel good about facing a dude with Jesus's hair and beard the day after Easter.

161-1!

Tough start to the season. Samardzija pitched well. I wish they would have let Marmol continue to implode...I really think we would have tied the game if he was able to face the last couple hitters.

The role of Rod Barahahahahas will be played by Russell Martin.

0-4 with 2 stolen bases against. I know there's a lot of baseball left but please do something soon to give some grounds for hope.

Burnett was particularly awesome to watch today, setting ten Cubs down on strikes in his 5 2/3 innings. He gave up all three Cubs' runs, though; two of them came when Anthony Rizzo destroyed a mistake fastball in the first inning and one more came when Garrett Jones attempted poorly to play right field, letting a Wellington Castillo flyball drop for an RBI double on the warning track in right center.

I was on the road when this happened- how bad was Jones on the play? Was it just a bad jump or was it LOLfense from Jones that we've come to know and love?

While getting bats into the lineup is a good thing, Jones is a horrendous fielder. Last year he had a -7.7 fielding WAR, and while fWAR isn't a great metric, it matches up with what my eyes told me. He's the inverse Hopeless Wagner.

FWIW, Pat Lackey tweeted that there was nothing Martin could do on the first but he still managed get it there on a fly. I think he just lost the grip on the second SB.

The ball hit the wall above the agh sign, it would have been a near impossible play.

I don't doubt the first part since a lot of the problem has been our pitching staff as well. It's way too early to say they haven't fixed it but getting somebody out early in the year would be nice.

Most of that negative is from playing first.. Through his whole career he's usually been just slightly below average in the OF, it's first where he's horrendous.
