castillo stunk, but he might have been the last guy to sign with the pirates and end up contributing on a regular basis.

I think Castillo and Paulino were signed the same yaer.

Ronny Paulino was probably a better player than Castillo. Then again, we're not talking about a huge difference. Signed same year I believe.

That the last two guys to have any sort of meaningful contribution were signed 16 years ago tells you all you need to know, however.

Pirates are the free game on MLB.tv tonight. I stupidly made plans so try not to crash the car into a tree.

Reggie Sanders was an outstanding signing for them and that was in the early 2000s. Stairs was a good signing around the same time. I can't really think of anyone else though.

That was the 2003 team, which also included Kenny Lofton.

Jeff Suppan and Kenny Lofting played well. Problem is they spent money they didn't have in 2003, ran up debt and had to give away their third baseman.

Ramirez would be a solid pickup. I'd rather trade for just him not Rios. Need to keep RF open for Polanco next summer.

Give me Ramirez and Kendrys Morales. Resign Morales and let Jones go after the season.

that's if morales can play right (he can't be any worse than Jones)

7 Marte
6 Ramirez
8 Cutch
5 Pedro
9 Morales
3 Jones/Sanchez
2 Martin
4 Walker

Bench = Jones/Sanchez, T. Sanchez, Mercer, Snider, Tabata

Dump Inge, Mckenry, and Barmes

I just really, really hope they at least get their runs scored to an average number. Trying to maintain their position scoring 2-3 runs a game going forward just won't work.

Don't forget the first inning when Strike 3 was off the plate.

Sigh....Leake, who is averaging right around 4 or 5 strikeouts every 9 innings, has 3 through the first 5 outs of the game. Please look at a ball down the middle Mercer with the pitcher coming up in a couple of batters.
