I think that DDL is like a chameleon, he transforms and I don't even recognize him, but other than that, I don't think he's the acting god that a lot make him out to be. That said, he is one of the best few actors today.

I have a hard time picking actors that you could consider better than him. He's very selective in his roles, but when he commits to a role, he puts his entire mind and body into the character.

I don't know, to me, he's the very definition what an actor is. I'm convinced he could perform almost any role well if he really committed to it.

To me a truly legendary actor is someone who can make you completely forget who they are in whatever role they play. I get that from guys like DDL, Gary Oldman, Tom Hanks, and Johnny Depp.

Thats why I put that qualfier in, but I don't think he stands out ahead of any of the 10-15 actors that i think are real good either though.

With female actors, like 5-10 years ago, I would have said unquestionably I thought Jennifer Connelly was the best there was. I've never thought that with a male actor.

The way I look at it is this: How do other actors rate him? And in that regard, you'll be hard pressed to find anyone who will say he's anything less than otherworldly.

And the two halves of that quoted bit are sort of contradictory, aren't they? I mean, if he's a chameleon and transforms himself to the point where he's unrecognizable...... I would think that's part of the very definition of acting.

I don't care what other actors or other people say about anyone. This is "My top actors", and I can't tell the difference between #1 and #50. And no its not contradictory, that speaks more to the fact that he gets good makeup people. He isn't changing the way he looks.
