I have a hard time picking actors that you could consider better than him. He's very selective in his roles, but when he commits to a role, he puts his entire mind and body into the character.
I don't know, to me, he's the very definition what an actor is. I'm convinced he could perform almost any role well if he really committed to it.
To me a truly legendary actor is someone who can make you completely forget who they are in whatever role they play. I get that from guys like DDL, Gary Oldman, Tom Hanks, and Johnny Depp.
