Anyone ever use Warby Parker to buy glasses

Postby llipgh2 on Tue Mar 05, 2013 3:31 pm

So I need a new pair of glasses. Haven't had a new pair for a ridiculously long time.

I HATE spending lots of money on something I rarely will use. I wear disposable daily wear contacts practically every day, so I'll get little use from my glasses. But it is good to have a pair with a current script.

So I read about Warby Parker in today's P-G. http://www.post-gazette.com/stories/life/fashion/whowhatwherewhy-warby-parker-glasses-are-cheaper-677964/

Went out to the website, and found a pair I really liked. Did the virtual fit, they look good. And are a base price of $95. (Will change if I go with more expensive lenses, but not by much).

Has anyone here used or heard of Warby Parker before? I'd appreciate any feedback before I actually purchase the glasses.

Probably have to send them back. I have to look into it a little more.

They don't do bifocals at this time. Which is ok with me. I need them, but like I said in my OP I wear contacts, I supplement with reading glasses.

Reading glasses that I bought at CVS, I might add LOL. My opthomologist said they are just as good as anything the practice he belongs to sells.

I guess I meant fitted rather than adjusted.

I buy readers from CVS, I'm obviously not too concerned about the fit...

But you are right about the fit aspect of it.

Definitely let me know if you end up getting them. I'd be interested to hear how it works out.

if you have your prescription just get them from Coastal.com

your first pair is free - you end up paying around $20 in fees but the glasses i got are the same i was going to pay $200+ at the eye doctor for.

I actually went there, but all the glasses I liked were excluded from the first pair free offer. And I really like the pair I found on Warby Parker. Did the virtual model and they looked good on my face.

Well I placed an order. Didn't need to upgrade the lenses, the lenses in my script are what they use. Free shipping. $95 were the cost of the frames and lenses.

Don't accept insurance but I was able to use my HSA.

I'm pretty sure Warby Parker does a free tryon thing - free shipping and return shipping I beleive, and you can try like 5 pairs on at home, and send back the ones you dont want. Dont quote me on that, I'm pretty sure its on their website.

Let me know how you like them, I'm considering ordering some from Warby Parker as well. Just stepped on my old frames last week and wearing my contacts every day all day just to see is getting real old.

eyebuydirect.com get your eye exam and fitting measurements done, should be included with most VSP insurance, and order a set for $6.95. The frames are cheap but they work. I got sick of contacts so I ordered a regular pair, 80% gray tint for sunglasses (a whopping $15 total), an extra pair for night time in case I fall asleep wearing them and also ordered some yellow tint big plastic framed glasses for shooting.

Coastal.com is also cheaper if you have a strong prescription. Most vision places in a target, wlamrt, costco, etc might do small adjustments for you but everything has come perfect for me.

You're right, they have the free try on. They also have virtual try on, which is what I used. Upload your pic and fit with the frames.

Got my glasses today. So far so good.

Fit well, style is nice and looks good on my face. Frames appear to be made well, don't look cheap or cheesy.

Lenses are good, sight is crisp and clear. No complaints.

great site, think I may have to get my next pair from here. It's really tempting to get their monocle now though...
