for some reason I didn't think Polaroid existed as a manufacturer with an R&D department anymore. I thought it was like RCA, where they just license their name to cheep chinese manufacturers to stick on products fooling customers into thinking "hey we know RCA. that has to be better than Magnetbox, Panaphonics, or Sorny"
