Miller is injured and could miss roughly the first half of the season, and he's only signed through next season. Eifert is a TE in the same mold as Miller and in the range of the 17th pick he's the closest player to a "guarantee". Will Jarvis Jones be able to transition to a 3-4 defense? Can Vaccaro become a Polamalu-like safety (remember the growing pains Troy had his rookie season)? If the Steelers take Eifert they've got their starting TE for the next 8 seasons. It wouldn't be a splash, exciting pick, but I can understand why they would take him.
That being said, I would still rather a defensive player.
Eifert is a de-facto wr. Ben is gonna need all the weapons he can get. The o-line finally looks to be shored up and now there's huge question marks about the pass catchers. Heath is out til mid-season. Can AB transition to the #1 wr full time? Sanders is hurt a lot, and Plex/Cotchery are quality veterans but they aren't gonna set the world on fire. I have a feeling the Steelers will never take him though.
