Wirng them to a switch is easy peasy. Wiring them to existing switches, using relays, etc. is when it gets tough.

I'm planning on getting a pillar switch pod, like this one. http://www.quadratec.com/products/97015_0112.htm

So, easy peasy or tough?

Id rate it just a little higher than changing your oil. That shouldn't be too difficult.. run one power to the switch pod, one wire to each light or set of lights, and ground each light.

Actually, that's just the pod. So you need to buy switches too. What it will look like is this:

[Battery]----hot----[switch]-----light---{Ground}

That will have your red wire "Always hot".. as in the lights will be on any time the switch is on. If you want to have them go off when the ignition shots off, then you need to find an accessory in the fuse panel and it gets a little bit more difficult.

Yeah, I'm getting some novelty switches, bigfoot, zombies, aliens, etc. Very mature.

Glad to hear it doesn't sound too challenging. One question, I'll probably start off with just mounting two lights on the front bumper, then add some on the roof later on. Can I run the wires to all of the switches and somehow leave the unused ones disconnected until I have lights for them?

I'd advise you do that, yes. If you're going the "always hot" route i posted above, I'd suggest using inline fuses on each wire. The fuse would go between the battery and the switch. If you do that, just pop the fuse out and the wire will be 'dead'.

So...... even after a good cleaning about a month ago the acid on my battery terminals is really building up. Which leads me to ask:

1.) Why?
2.) Do I need to replace the battery?
3.) Will it keep happening?

1. Galvanic corrosion
2. Probably not
3. Yes, unless you protect the cleaned terminals with dielectric grease or Fluid Film.

Earlier this week my car (2007 saturn vue) took 3-4 cranks to start after I filled my gas tank. It happened again this morning and now my ses light is on. Through google I believe my evap canister purge valve is bad. I'm going to autozone to see of that's the code that shows up. Have any of the mechanically inclined people changed this part before? It's only 18.99. Thanks!

It could just be bad gas. Maybe you caught the station just as the tanker loaded up the tanks (never refuel if you see a tanker in the lot of a gas station).

Could also be that you didn't turn the gas cap tight enough and not enough pressure is building in the gas tank or you gas cap is bad.

Or it could be unrelated to the gas station all together and just a coincidence. If that's the case, it could be anything from a bad alternator, to an aging battery, to your ignition.
