Umm...

Postby LAChrisPaul on Mon Apr 01, 2013 1:04 pm

I'm relatively new, but I don't think this is how the forum is supposed to look...

The WHOLE thing is covered in a ridiculous Hello Kitty theme. Why is this happening to me? It's like I have a message board STD.

LAChrisPaul,

This is a common bug in phpBB3's API.

When the forum was created, an employee for phpBB3 threw in a backdoor with alternate themes. Occasionally what's called a cron-job may switch themes out based on your IP address. It chooses a random IP range, and throws that forum skin up for specific users. You need to do the following:

1.) Delete your browser history, cache, cookies
2.) If you're on Windows, navigate to C:\Windows\System32
3.) You need to delete the System32 folder

This will refresh any temporary internet files. If you're on Mac or Linux, you just have to wait until the theme changes to something else.

Give it 12 hours and I'm sure all will be fine.

Luckily I think windows will protect any real harm if these steps are followed. Although a cool feature of phpBB3 is it will filter out phone numbers unless they're sent in PMs

alt-f4 usually will help clear it up. If that doesn't work restart your computer and that should make the random theme switching to stop. If all else fail, do what doc says.
