Thank you, everyone, for the well wishes!
Today is the big 4-0, and we're celebrating in the Big Easy. First time here for both of us, and it's pretty effin amazing how expressive this place is. Food is incredible, can't swing a dead rodent without hitting someone playing music, and everyone is super polite and Southern. (Yet almost no one has an accent...)
Dinner last night at Bayona, tonight it's Restaurant August. Had beignets (sp?) and chicory coffee at Cafe du Monde, and oysters, gumbo and a bloody Mary at Royal House. Tomorrow, we'll hit Felix's for more oysters and Gulf bounty, and either Cochon Butcher or some other place for more Cajun magnificence before setting off to the airport... which is named after Louis frickin' Armstong.
Laissez les bon temps rouler!!!
