Apparently police found other devices that did not go off.

Patrick Burke, who was running the marathon in support of his "If you can play" organization, has tweeted that he was nowhere near the finish line, and is okay.

It's not nearly as high profile, but certainly gives me pause

This stuff just makes me angry, and my blood boil.

I hate that we live in a world like this. It makes me not want to have children.

To be honest this is probably the most safe time in history to have children.

**** happens, people are crazy. The best you can hope for is that you're never involved in something like this. No matter what you do there is an associated risk involved. Just thinking about all the hockey games, concerts, parades, movies, etc that I've been too and thinking about how something like this could happen is enough to give a person a heart attack. Like I said, the best you can hope for is it never happens at something you're at.

I know. It just bothers me. I just hate that there are such hateful people in the world that would do crap like this. It just doesn't make sense to me, maybe that's why it bothers me so much. I dunno.

Absolutely bananas, what's going on. Looking around that area on Google Maps, it seems the only thing of possible interest outside of just "I'm a maniac and want to detonate bombs" is the Portuguese consulate.

With two explosions one block and 15 seconds apart, it's hard to believe it's not an act of terror. Thoughts and prayers to everyone involved.

Obviously there is no logical or reasonable person that could do this, but of all the questions, why a marathon? These people are hurting no one, they are out running, it isn't like the pose some threat to anyone.

i totally understand the anger, and how upsetting and unsettling these events can be.
my personal take on them however is that if I live in fear and alter the course of my life in response, the people committing these acts have accomplished their goal. be aware of the evil in this world, but do not bow down to it.

And if there was truly a 3rd device on a delay to go off when the first responders showed up.

A CBS News producer on the ground in Boston said she just heard a third explosion in the area. A police officer near her told her he thought it sounded like a bomb going off.
