RIP Otis McDonald, at age 80. Mr. McDonald was the lead plaintiff in the landmark McDonald v. Chicago Supreme Court case, which held that the Second Amendment represents a fundamental, individual constitutional right that applies to state and local governments with the same strength as it applies to the federal government (and also overturned Chicago's 28-year-old gun ban).

has to be some type of relation to Michael Hutchence from INXS right?

Bob Geldof and Paula Yates had the first few kids. Paula Yates left Bob and took up with Michael Hutchence of INXS.

Paula died of a drug overdose.

Michael died of autoerotic asphyxiation.

Paula Yates apparently never got over Hutchence's death.

Peaches Geldof was only 25 years old and a mum to 2 little ones. Poor kids. I know these things aren't rational when tremendous emotional pain is involved, but you'd wonder, if she couldn't get over her mum's death, then how could she leave her own kids in that way?

RIP The Ultimate Warrior at the age of 54. Collapsed outside his hotel just days after being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.

They say enlarged heart in one article I read.

EDIT: And now I see it's all over the Pro Wrestling Thread...so, never mind.

all a myth. I believe that started in the early or mid 90s when he returned to the WWF and was noticeably smaller and looked different.

If you watched RAW this past Monday, his speech seems even more creepy considering that he died about 24 hrs later.

Maybe it was.

That was the quote from Monday. it reads almost like he knew his time was coming.

The sad part about wrestlers is that pretty much everyone assumes that if they are more than 40 or 50 years old, the are probably dead.

the rumors, if i remember correctly, started from his dismissal from the wwf, combined with the thoughts that the ultimate warrior was a von erich relative. they do have similarities in apearance and the von erichs have a pretty storied/troubled history. this obviously was factless conjecture that snowballed into rumor.

this, of course, was in a time that the smarks werent that smark and the internet wasnt around.

Yeah. I think also he was gone for a year, and like someone else said, when he came back like a year or two later, his appearance was a little different, so people just said the original died, whent hat wasn't the case at all.

I read One Hundred Years of Solitude while stuck in an airport for two days. I always think about that novel when I enter airports.

Lost a really dear and beautiful friend today, rather suddenly. I can count the people on this earth that are both important to me and absolutely wonderful genuine human beings on one hand and Mario was one of them. We met in Afghanistan as he was a Commander in the Italian Army on his last tour. I think I actually mentioned him here on this board a while back, we used to watch F1 and MotoGP together. We had plans for me to fly over and spend a few weeks at his olive plantation once my wife got healthy. She was diagnosed when I was over there and he really took me under his wing, so to speak, and helped me gain perspective on where things were likely going to head. In addition to being a military officer (retired last fall) he has been instructing sky divers and hang gliders for about 30 years. The last pictures I saw of him on Facebook was him trying out those flight suits with the webbing that allow you to ride thermals along ridges and stuff as you skydive. He came to the states a while ago and helped setup a bunch of dive centers, and the first indoor skydiving facility on the east coast. Anyway, I logged into Facebook at work this morning and saw that he died yesterday. No surprise that it was hang gliding related, and it's hard not to be angry, but the man led such a full and wonderful life and he couldn't have done so without taking some risks so I can't stay mad. I cried all the way home and still am, to be honest. Luckily I had some work I could take home and legitimately work on.

http://www.foggiatoday.it/cronaca/mario-luppa-morto-rignano-garganico-incidente-deltaplano.html

The accident photos aren't graphic, but when I got to his helmet I lost it. I'm really battling with trying not to call this a waste, because he really loved doing what he did. I'm gutted for his beautiful wife and daughters, and anyone fortunate enough to have met him. Wish I could go to the funeral on Friday, but the wife is on weekly chemo now so it is out of the question.

Spoiler:
One of the last times I saw him in person:

God damn it, Mario. You silly bastard, why couldn't you stay home yesterday.

I miss him.

Thanks. I keep telling myself, well, at least he's at rest. But the man was pure optimism and milked everything out of life. Constantly moving. He wouldn't want to rest. heh.

When I found out for sure it was hang gliding/skydiving related, my initial thought was "Why couldn't he do something safer, like ride his motorcycle?" Ah, man.
