Watching Asu vs Wisconsin. I'm not entirely convinced the Asu long snapper has actually snapped a ball prior to tonight.

The broadcast guy just described a wisco defensive back as being "handsy." After being creeped out by that adjective, I'm trying to think of any other real world situation where you could call someone "handsy" without getting punched, shot, fired, or arrested...

Wisconsin just got screwed... Big time. Absolutely horrible job by the officials at the end. It will probably be all over Sports Center tomorrow since most of you are asleep.

After watching the replay, not sure I agree they got hosed. For starters, their kicker should be able to make a 27 yard field goal from the right hash, but that's beyond the point. Stave ran into his own lineman, which started the confusion. Then, instead of giving the ball to an official, he just set it down in a muddle of confusion. Then, instead of just staying at the LOS to scream that the ball get officially spotted, he spent a good five or six seconds barking at the official away from the ball.

Ultimately, I would not have attempted that play sequence with 17 seconds left and no timeouts. If you don't trust your kicker to kick a 27 yard field goal from the hash, meh

I dont think anyone, college or professional, would have not centered that ball.

17 seconds should be PLENTY of time to move the ball to the center and spike it. You also run the risk of kicking a field goal with 17 seconds left, you give the other team time to run a play or two. They got screwed no matter how you look at it.

From 27 yards, 17 seconds left and no timeouts? Yeah, I doubt that

I just watched the replays again. Multiple whistles blow at 15 seconds, lineman jumps on the ball at 12 seconds, doesn't get off the ball until 4 seconds (all times are until the end of the game). In other words, there was a three second delay between obvious whistles being blown to him jumping on the ball, he was on the ball for 8 seconds. How is that not a delay of game penalty?

Agree with idoit... Any team centers that ball. There was more than ample time to run all three plays (center the ball, spike, kick). The official on the ball allowed the ASU player to just lay there. Incompetence.

The are things Wisconsin could have done better in that sequence, but you aren't supposed to be forced to plan for that level of terrible from the officials.

Wisconsin's QB Stave never actually knelt down- he banged into his lineman, then put the ball on the ground. If he just drops back and kneels there's no problem. Wisconsin got cute with 17 seconds left and no timeouts and it backfired.

Even if he never knelt down, listen to the game. Multiple whistles blow at the 15 second mark.

The officials screwed up by not stopping the clock when there was a question about possession or by not calling ASU for delay of game by falling on the ball. They also screwed up by ruling him down and not ruling it a fumble as it should have been called.

Maybe he should have, you know, fallen down or spiked the ball or taken a knee like most QBs do instead of prancing around in the backfield then putting the ball on the ground.

I understand that he is somewhat at fault for not making it absolutely clear that he was down, and that he should have gotten his linemen up there and spiked it asap, but the large fault lies on the refs in this situation. There's no way you can look at it and say they handled the situation properly.

Was really disappointed in PSU's defense yesterday. The passing game was expected--Bortles is a great QB afterall--but the line got zero pressure and couldn't make a stop all night. I miss having Mauti out there. Was a great atmosphere though...the first of many I will see outside the student section unfortunately.
