The Onion is re-running a story they did last year on this subject. NSFW, but I lol'd at the title.

There's an easy fix for Snyder to end the tragic "Redskin" humanity crisis. He should announce he is keeping the team name Redskins but changing the logo to a huge redskin potato. The old logo will still be used by fans with Redskin gear. Snyder can then tell the "outraged" pols and progressives to STFU. The team can later sell all kind of retro gear. Case closed.

Why do you believe that this is a political issue?
I mean, if you have a brain, one can determine that it's a racial slur....I don't see a political element to that.

Pretty sure everyone sideline report can be summerized as:

"[Coach] said that he was happy with the first half performance, but they're going to have to make some adjustments if they want to win this one."

http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nfl-shutdown-corner/ex-vikings-punter-chris-kluwe-plans-to-sue-team-over-coach-s-anti-gay-remarks-181028969.html

I am 100% on board the "Chris Kluwe is obsessed with self-promotion" bandwagon. I'm sure there are anti-gay undertones in NFL locker rooms, but I'm pretty convinced this is an average punter that is desperately trying to milk every last minute of fame he can.
