Wow, in the time it took me to type my list 19 other posters chimed in and cited nearly all my films. Now I look like a raging copy cat.

And I'd add the 3rd and 4th Alien films and the two AVP films (for ruining two franchises)....... and I don't know if you should just technically call it a 'derivative work', but I'd add "Prometheus" there as well.

I feel blessed to have been raised in a household where I was introduced to movies such as The Sting and The Great Escape at a young age. I was able to enjoy these films throughout my life and they keep getting better.

I didn't even know there was a sequel. Paul Newman isn't in it, right?

The AVP franchise is HORRIBLE. I absolutely HATE what it's done to the lore of the original Alien universe.

I did like Prometheus, and Aliens, but only because Aliens was so goddamn suspenseful (when they're doing the compound sweep). I think that's the most tense I've ever felt when watching a movie. You guys all know the scene, where they arrive and start slowly moving through the colony with their hand-held radars and what not. Excellent cinematography, really captures hopelessness.

Alien 3 wasn't that great, but I do like David Fincher.

Before the credit roll ends, Fincher manages to sever all audience connection (read: emotional link) with the story and characters and unveils a massive plot hole in his own film's story that goes un-addressed for the duration. And then when things get started, gives us a really boring horror movie.

I had only seen it once in theaters, but it was on TV one day a few months ago (caught it from the alien birthing sequence and watched it through). If anything, it was worse than I remembered. Perhaps I was still butthurt from Prometheus being such garbage, and as a fanboi was still in a fragile mental state. But it struck me how monstrously bad Alien 3 was as I was watching.
