I feel so bad for those people. Especially the ones that lost their children.

Read a story about a dad just sitting outside the school on a stool crying as his kid was one of the 4 missing. Absolutely heartbreaking.

I find tornadoes, much like hurricanes so so so interesting. Just hate when they are so devestating.

He definitely knew where to move to though. But I agree, a board or something flying through the air and smashing through his windshield could have been game over for him.

It would've been nice if the reporter helped the elderly lady to lift the twisted metal off her dog. Maybe the sound guy could have put his microphone down even.

What I don't understand, maybe it's a cost issue, is why don't places like schools (in areas prone to these events) have tornado shelters?

When I heard that 7 children drown while seeking shelter in the school's basement, all I could think of was how frightening and horrible that must have been. And then I thought "Why the h*ll didn't the school have the appropriate shelter for these kids?"

I heard bill nye say that the cost of making them because of the sediment in the areas is steep, but then he also said the cost of loss of life and rebuilding far exceeds that of a storm cellar.

Remember the old TV show Storm Chasers which showed how intense of a challenge it is to get to a storm before it happens and film the tornado? The devastation of this puts a new perspective on the results from the chase.

The news said they had 16 minutes to prepare for this storm.

I used to watch those all the time. They're also the reason I recognized "Moore, OK" when I heard about the storm:

That was 1999. They also were hit in 2010 and 2011.

There was none. That was the problem. Kids and teachers were taking shelter where they could find it.
