So are British Muslims being horribly persecuted? What about the Boston Marathon bombers? Are they being horribly persecuted in the United States?

I just want to make sure I pass your muster before I commit brutal, wanton murder against innocent people.

I'm still not understanding. Can I commit murder because my fellow Christians are being persecuted in Egypt? I certainly am super comfy in the United States, but I should be able to kill some Muslims because the ruling Egyptians are persecuting Christians, right?

Hmmm...........because he was chanting "Allah Akhbar!" after he bludgeoned this poor guy? Honestly, this is why you aren't even worth arguing with. You don't even pay attention to half the story and just go to Slate for your sound bytes

Actually, there is no difference. As I stated earlier in this thread, 36% of young British Muslims believe that conversion to anything besides their own religion should be punished by DEATH. DEATH. Do you attribute that to the war in Iraq? Really?

You don't like in the same world I do then. Christians are attacked more and more every year. Not only here but around the world. You can't touch Muslims. The hardcore left has made it a sin to basically.

I am no fan of the war in Iraq, but your view is ignorant. Islamic extremism is not 100% attributed to the "US bombing the Middle East". It has been around LONG before that. I don't disagree that American involvement in the M.E. has caused increased hostility, but your view that any act committed in the name of Islam is justified is flat out wrong.

This is the NHR equivalent of the Sutter thread.

This is why I stopped getting involved with doublem. Everything can be rationalized by immoral American government.

About eight-in-ten Muslims in Egypt and Pakistan (82% each) endorse the stoning of people who commit adultery; 70% of Muslims in Jordan and 56% of Nigerian Muslims share this view. Muslims in Pakistan and Egypt are also the most supportive of whippings and cutting off of hands for crimes like theft and robbery; 82% in Pakistan and 77% in Egypt favor making this type of punishment the law in their countries, as do 65% of Muslims in Nigeria and 58% in Jordan.

When asked about the death penalty for those who leave the Muslim religion, at least three-quarters of Muslims in Jordan (86%), Egypt (84%) and Pakistan (76%) say they would favor making it the law; in Nigeria, 51% of Muslims favor and 46% oppose it. In contrast, Muslims in Lebanon, Turkey and Indonesia largely reject the notion that harsh punishments should be the law in their countries. About three-quarters of Turkish and Lebanese Muslims oppose the stoning of people who commit adultery (77% and 76%, respectively), as does a narrower majority (55%) of Muslims in Indonesia.

Please tell me what this has to do with the war in Iraq

Can you honestly fathom that? More than 8 in 10 people in a large nation endorse stoning someone to death that cheats on their spouse.

How about 84 effing percent of a nation that endorses KILLING SOMEONE for leaving their religion?

Yep...it's all the US's fault

I agree. I'm happy we stone to death non-Christians in this country. This country was founded on Christ, damn it.

I don't think the West's involvement in the middle east justifies this dude killing someone. I just think it helps explain part of his motive.

Even if the US pulled out of the hundreds of countries we're in today, the violence toward us wouldn't stop overnight. It might not stop for a hundred years. But it wouldn't get much worse and would have to stem off over time.

Why is the camera man or the dude holding his phone not running away from this guy?
