Boys Names

Postby opie22002 on Tue Jun 18, 2013 3:00 pm

The mrs and I are expecting our first child, a boy, in October. We're trying to agree on names. I'm a teacher so I tend to throw out most names that are common.

We were thinking of Heath or Logan. I really like Logan but we've heard it's a common girls name too.

Thoughts?

boys names are tough. we didn't the know the sex of our baby last year, so we had to think of a boy and girl name. the girl name was a slam dunk. we ended up kind of "meh" on the boy name we picked. luckily, we had a girl.

Heath sucks. Sounds like that candy bar, plus every time I hear that word, I get a visual of Heath Ledger in his Joker makeup.

Logan's cool.

Girls can be named Logan, true, but who cares. Logan Couture. That sounds good, eh?

Logan is wolverines name on x-men! I guess it could be a girls name as well but I have not met a female Logan. Are you into family history/traditions you may have a parent/grandparent/great grandparent that had a cool name you would like to keep alive.

EDIT:
Congrats!!

It took 6 replies to get our first Congrats. Shame on all of you.

Congrats. Logan and Heath are both sweet choices.

I've always thought if I had a son Brooks would be a sweet middle name for him. But by now even if I do have kids #44 will be hanging from the CEC rafters :pop:

Congrats! We are expecting in November, finding out the gender next Friday.

I like Logan, but not sure about Heath. To be completely honest, it's hard for me to give honest advice without a middle and/or last name. But being as this is an internet message board, I understand not divulging that info.

I actually like the name Brooks. But I'd be sure to put it on the birth certificate with the emote in the middle.

Me? No. None actually. Jewish and German so I assume some amount of time was spent going from Israel to Germany.

I just think Vlad Ivan is a bad ass name. He will be destined to be a super villain. Or a Rocky villain. Or a 4th tier wrestler in a company that uses middle school gyms to host events in front of tens of fans...

Maximus or bust for a boy.

Avery Grace Cheesesteakwithegg was born last Thursday. We were in the delivery room for a total of 10 minutes before she was born. Almost had her in the lobby. Wife delivered this baby faster than Jimmy Johns.

Logan isn't bad. We had a boy's name picked when my daughter was born 2 years ago, but, much like shmenguin, we weren't 100% on it and found it to be much easier choosing a boy's name. For the longest time we were going to go with Bentley (Ben) because it is a family name, but then that stupid teen mom show came along and I couldn't bear the thought of being asked if we got our name from that show.

I dunno. I like some creativity with naming, but I'm not really a fan of pop culture names. To add, I am not a fan of names that cross the line from "cool" to "98% guaranteed to get your son's ass kicked throughout grade school".

I'm honestly of the opinion that it is that much harder for your child to be accepted and fit in if they have a completely outlandish name. Somewhat unique is fine, hence why I am a fan of Logan. Hell, even Brooks wouldn't be bad.
