Why not just call him Candy, short for Candy Bar.

"Heath" is outlawed in my house for reasons that are no longer as obvious as they used to be.

Our oldest is Eli. Named for former Providence Bruin Elias Abrahamsson, just because we saw his name and liked it.

Middle is Jacob. We thought it was an original name. So did 40 million other parents in 2003.

Youngest is Adelaide. Named for a sweet little girl we knew and liked her name.

I'm good with Logan.

Throwing out an option that baby-namers may want to consider. In my family, instead of using given names for middle names, we usually use family names, like the family names of grandparents or great-grandparents. For example, if I'm naming my daughter Jane Crosby and my paternal grandmother had a maiden name of Malkin, I might name my daughter Jane Malkin Crosby. We think it serves as a reminder of the families that came together to ultimately make you.

Uh, no. In fact, I have two middle names, both of which are family names, so I'm like something like John Orpik Malkin Crosby.

I like the family middle name idea, but what's with the Penguin theme?

Yeah, the standard pattern is to use one, but I somehow ended up with two.

I prefer anonymity and other than Roe and Doe I can't think of any other generic last names.

Trivia: I just learned that in the Indian legal system, their equivalent of "John Doe" is "Ashok Kumar".

I was thinking Heath Ledger with the drugs and all. I don't think you want your kid to think of him as an icon. Sorry end for an otherwise cool dude.

Middle names are good for family member tributes. My daughter has an old lady name for her middle name - shared with my wife's grandmother.

Picking up on what George Carlin was saying, spelling is bothersome, too. I once had a neighbor who had kids named "Khamryn" and "Kharsyn."

These folks were WASPs. They just couldn't bring themselves to have something so common as "Cameron" and "Carson."

Why would you do this to a child? You are forcing your child to SPELL OUT HIS NAME EVERYDAY FOR THE REST OF HIS LIFE.
