Pretty sure he wasn't referring to fantasy football.

I have about a million other things on my mind. I don't think not making a trade in fantasy football is going to ruin everything.

Letang Is The Truth wrote:what is the differential between your WR2 and any subsequent changes by removing welker and adding vereen and lacy. if WR is your deepest position you can handle losing a few points per game on the difference between WR1 and WR2 by adding vereen/lacy and taking tate/whatever out

The next highest guy had about 6 points less than Welker (Welker had 16.7)

Other than Mike Williams (who only had like 45 yards), no other receiver caught a TD pass, let alone 2.

I'm not the best judge of fantasy football in the world...but when I first saw the deal and learned that Welker was the best WR on the team and behind Foster, the RB situation was pretty meh, I thought, "yeah, I would probably do that trade and hope one of them really pans out well"

I'm surprised that so many people think this is such a no-brainer...it's not that great of a trade...Vereen is a platoon guy, Lacy is every other Green Bay running back that we all go flocking to because "this is the one" that finally fits into the offense and minus a year and a half or two years maybe of Ryan Grant, it hasn't been anyone since Ahman Green...

Welker, who has the most receptions by any player in a six-year stretch in NFL history (and his rec. finishes for the year are: 1, 2, 1, 6, 1, 2; in that time), is just now about to be a target for the best QB in NFL history.

Would I probably take the RBs in that situation, yes, probably. But I don't see it as this "oh my God, what are you thinking by not taking this guy out to dinner to seal this deal" type of trade...

I'm still trying to get Lacy off him, but obviously at a lower cost :pop:

Early in the football season, I really just approach things as accumulating assets where possible. Especially in a redraft league. Its almost impossible to have an optimal team for playoff purposes from the word go. So, I err on the side of stacking assets to get that optimal team later in the season. The other big consideration on early season trades is ADP. It takes about 4 weeks for many people to abandon ADP as a means of valuing players. If I can get a clear ADP upgrade early in the season because someone is spooked, I'll almost always take it.

With those two things in mind. This trade would have been approximately ~3.06-3.12 + ~5.06-6.06 for 4.06-4.12? Yep, I'll snap that up quickly.

All that said, I think mikey's got a pretty defensible position because of the consistency of Welker (albeit not in a what looks (looked?) like a 3rd-in-the-pecking-order role) given the relative questions marks surrounding Lacy and Vereen.

Its easier to find a producing WR that went unnoticed than to find a RB that went unnoticed.

Should I stick with spiller this week? He didn't do anything for me. I have Charles who will be my first starter then need 1 more RB out of spiller, pierre Thomas, and shonn Greene. Jacquizz Rodgers too, but I figured he's way down the depth chart.

This. Especially after seeing the other choices. Shonn Greene is bad at football, I'd cut him personally.

He was a 15th round pick. Not many other options at that point. I grabbed him in the hope that he'd be used on the goal line to supplant CJohnson. Hey, he scored as many points as Spiller in my league last week.

I don't blame you at all for taking Shonn Greene, but last week's results are meaningless.

Agreed. I'm also debating flacco vs. Cleveland or Stafford vs. Arizona but leaning towards the latter.

I try to say this without an insult, I'm guessing you haven't played ff much? I only bring it up because a friend I just got into ff wanted to overreact with his benchings after 1 week.

I get it, it's a natural reaction to say "ughhh, these guys did better." It's one week though, relax... Benching spiller, for those guys. after 1 week is like scratching Geno after a bad couple games.

My scoring rewards the big play more which is why I'm still leaning Stafford but it's still up in the air.

One of my only rules in fantasy football is don't bench your stars unless you are forced too. Playing a good defense, having a bad week, etc. don't qualify and will likely just have you kicking yourself on Mondays.

I dropped my last round joke pick for Julian Edelman (how I managed to get him at 8th on the waiver list is beyond me) AND still was able to pick up Bell as a last resort, dropping Mark Ingram.

I didn't realize that the waiver order in my league reset every week to reverse order of your standing in the league. I thought I was 2nd because that's where I was last week due to my draft position... turns out I was 8th because of the rearrangement. Needless to say I didn't get Edelman.

I think with big plays flacco with his arm and Torrey smith is a great option.

It's one of the reasons I didn't pick anyone up before week one. I wanted to keep my #2 waiver spot for after week one because I knew there'd be someone hot out there like edelman that I could pick up.

Edelman wasn't even my first waiver priority (because I didn't think I'd actually get him), so I had to have dropped down to 9 or 10 on the waiver lost after picking up Bell.
