Internet/website question

Postby MWB on Mon Aug 12, 2013 8:22 am

For some reason I am unable to access certain sites through my home Internet connection. This includes LGP. If I reset my modem, it works, but only temporarily. The message says inable to connect to server. Any ideas why this is happening and how to fix it? Thanks.

With LGP specifically, try sending Admin your IP and explaining the problem. I had the same issue at work for a while.

The next time it does that try going to this website:

64.34.175.108 <---this is letsgopens actual web address. If you type that in and get the site you know there is a problem with your DNS lookup server.

When you type www.letsgopens.com into your web browser, it asks your DNS server to convert that alphabetical url into an ip address. For most people their DNS server is run by their internet provider. There are some other alternatives (Google being a big one) that you can set up if you have trouble with your DNS.

Mac and PittSoccer nailed it.

If your DNS is that unreliable, I'd configure a different one.

This has nothing to do with admin and everything to do with your service provider (ISP)

Thanks, I'll check it out when I get home. We switched to windstream about a month ago. This is the first issue, but it seems to be related to that.

I was having a similar issue a while ago, and I seem to recall it being related to staying logged in on multiple devices within the same (home) network.
