He did a good job last season and will probably be the starter at FS since Shamarko got like zero playing time last season.

Steelers will release LB LaMarr Woodley at 4 ET Tuesday, designate him a post June 1 casualty, per source. He will be free to sign Tuesday.

So they can release him tomorrow, allowing him to sign with another team, but for cap purposes they can say "JK bro, didn't really release you until June 1st, peace bro"?

The other question is why the hell has Ike not been released yet.

Smoky Holmes was released. I'm assuming there's enough bad blood there that he won't fit under the front office's Yinzer Appeasement strategy.

Almost like he's taking the words out of my mouth.

23. Kevin Colbert - Steelers

There’s actually a game Colbert likes more than football: Kick the can. Colbert believes the primary function of a general manager is to restructure contracts. With Colbert perpetually sending the bill down the road, the Steelers have gone from one of the league’s elite rosters to one of its most stale. It’s a curious form of management, but not one Colbert seems ready to change. Just this month, the contracts of Troy Polamalu (33 in April) and Heath Miller (32 in October) were extended through 2016, while Antonio Brown’s deal was restructured less than 20 months after the ink dried. If there’s one thing a GM can’t fear, it’s tough decisions, but Colbert seems petrified by the harsh realities of his job, unwilling to move on from the core of yesteryear. Complicating matters is Colbert’s increasingly-mediocre draft record. Impact first-rounders have been in short supply, which is a major problem since Colbert is no longer finding late-round studs with any real regularity. Cooking the books while disappointing on draft weekend is a recipe that will doom any franchise, no matter how storied. He can keep forestalling it for however long he likes, but Colbert’s day of reckoning is a slow train that won’t be derailed unless he makes drastic change

The author of that article is a huge tool. He recently called Chip Kelly the 6th best coach in the league, and Rex Ryan the 11th best.

Well, the Eagles did make the playoffs with a 2nd year QB. I don't think credit to Chip Kelly is misguided.

From the article, Colbert can't part ways with the old core....Harrison, Ward, Smith, Hampton, Farrior, and recently Foote, and Woodley all cut or retired in the last two years.
Colbert doesn't hit in late round studs....Antonio Brown was a 6th round draft pick.

I'm surprised you endorsed this article yet it makes no mention of Roethlisberger, Troy.

Doesn't change prior mistakes.

I think the 2013 secondary says it all. Taylor, Clark and Polamalu all retained, Keenan Lewis walks. They would have been better off with Lewis and 3 rookies.
