Apparently cam Thomas was signed to play DE. So they are planning on going with Thomas and Heyward at DE and McClendon at NT. They have pretty much no one behind any of them, so on second thought, maybe they will go DL.

This year's free agency recap is slightly less gruesome:

Key signings: DT Cam Thomas, S Mike Mitchell
Key subtractions: WR Emmanuel Sanders, WR Jerricho Cotchery, DE Ziggy Hood, OLB LaMarr Woodley, T Levi Brown, LB Larry Foote

15 – Pittsburgh Steelers – Ra’Shede Hagemen – DT – Minnesota – The Steelers could also go for a tight end or a nose tackle with this pick. Hageman brings value at this pick.

Not a fan of a TE in the first round for the Steelers. Miller had a nice first season back after the ACL tear and would have put up his 65-70 catches had he played all 16 games but for the ACL. I think they have bigger holes to fill, and would be somewhat of a luxury pick.

I wouldn't go TE either. Miller and Spaeth is a pretty good 1-2 combination at TE and though Miller turns 32 this year, his contract extension makes him for affordable and it doesn't seem like the wheels will be falling off anytime soon. If you go "offensive threat" in the first round, WR is the bigger need.

This hits the nail on the head. They desperately need to add corners and probably another safety(mid round). It's a passing league and they have a worn out Ike, a mediocre William Gay who's a so-so nickel back, and Cortez Allen who's actually showed more than Keenan Lewis at this point in their careers. Problem is he's had injuries, hasn't proven himself and is a FA if not extended this year.
If there's a rated shutdown corner when they pick it should be automatic. They should take another in the first 3 round. They've done well getting WRs in middle / late rounds.

It's kinda scary how many positions you could argue that they have a "need".

Blount's a pretty solid running back. Surprised the Patriots didn't want to bring him back. He's a significant upgrade over Dwyer (who was taken in the 6th round the year Blount went undrafted) and a Bell-Blount combination is a really good backfield for the Steelers.

Real good signing. The Pats just gave Wolfork & mil per year to get him back. They were supposed to be interested in Blount returning; maybe they low balled him because of the other 3 or 4 backs they have.

Great signing, great deal. Blount was coming on strong down the stretch last year, including that ridiculous game in the playoffs. He's only 27.

Another nice aspect of this deal is that Blount really doesn't have as much wear and tear on him as other backs his age.
