He is the prototype steelers running back...i like. I do not like that second round pick i spent on him a few years ago.

Beast. This gives us a diverse one-two punch in the backfield, but each has one thing in common - they are not easy to bring down.

As far as Free Agency goes, I can't say I dislike any of the decisions to add or subtract. All young vets arguably on the upswing, at reasonable prices.

I only hope we are as productive in the draft. There are some young players around the organization that could make a jump this year as well. I also believe Cortez Allen will rebound. It's not all gloom and doom. Could be surprisingly positive this season as a transition step. No expectations of the playoffs, but if star players have big years it is not out of the question.

I still think the playoffs are a real possibility...especially if they keep the reigns off of Ben. They are definitely going to have to become more of an offense first team, which will be interesting to see considering the organization's and head coach's apparent aversion to that concept.

Cortez Allen, for me, was one of the bigger disappointments last year just because I thought he would be able to not only fill a gap, but excel. He looked completely lost when on the field, and never settled in. IIRC, he had an injury in preseason that most likely affected his 'readiness', so I'm hopeful that he makes a leap forward this year. His ball skills are sorely needed in our secondary...especially given the fact that the overall D could be our weakest unit. Turnovers and splash plays on D could get them out of the inevitable troubles they're going to find themselves in, and a ball hawk at corner or nickel corner could make a huge difference.

Im still leary of the direction of this team, but free agency has been a winner so far. Heres hoping they get what they need in the draft.

With these two running backs they better be running a lot more. They should be getting around 30-35 carries a game.

Really happy with the Steelers offseason. They're addressing needs due to lack luster drafts and signing guys who fit the mold of the positions the need and not just getting flashy names.

And now we head into the deepest draft in 30 years according to Kevin Colbert. Please draft Mike Evans!

This is how I feel. The free agent pick-ups seem like solid players who fill real needs, but there are still so many holes and/or question marks that it makes it hard to see them being a legitimately good team (as opposed to an 8-8 or 9-7 team that sneaks into the playoffs because of a bad division or conference only to get waxed in the first round) unless they absolutely knock it out of the park with this draft class.

If this team hits on their draft, I feel like they can make a substantial step forward.

I think it might be time for me to make the next season's Steeler thread.

About $34k in cap space left after signing Brice McCain today. Heyward-Bey to visit Wednesday.

It will be interesting to see some fresh blood in there. Hopefully they can get an impact player or two from the draft to help things along.

Between him, Brown, Moore and Wheaton we have a nice little WR corps. Don't see them going for a WR first round anymore.

They no longer need to draft a safety or WR in the first round, and they brought back Ike. The path is clear to draft Irish Chocolate.

There was a Steelers depot tweet saying they only had 34k left after signing McCain. Guess that wasn't true.

He's always had wheels but he has the hands of Pascal Dupuis. He's not good.

H Bey and McCain are bums. McCain may help on special teams but he was rated as one of the NFL's best corners. Hey Bey may add depth and could be trotted out on the field to run decoy deep patterns. Chances are low that he can turn it around after 5 seasons. I think it'll be a bad sign if he makes the team.
