What do you win? No playoffs and a mediocre mid-late first round draft pick.

The 15th pick in the draft won't be bad this year.

The worst part about the 2nd half of the season is they will think they can get by without overhauling this team, again. The standard is the standard.

And by overhaul, I'm mostly talking about the defense.

If you think they aren't in the process of an overhaul you're just being willfully ignorant.

My hopes is that Clark, Woodley, and Sanders are gone.

I wouldn't mind Keisel back at the right price but wouldn't be upset if he is gone. I hope Troy isn't cut because he still has some game left.

My liking of this team would go up exponentially if they got rid of Clark, Woodley and Sanders.

I like a combo of Shamarko Thomas, Troy and Will Allen at safety.

Yeah, could see it coming a mile away. Just knew when they were 4-8 they would win out to get a lower pick and still miss the playoffs.

With Heyward's play it is doubtful they bring back Keisel. As for Troy he'll probably get a similar offer to what Harrison turned down. He made a lot of big plays both positively and negatively this year. Same for Ike, though I think he fell off the cliff this year just from my eyeballs and without looking at any stats.

The writing was on the wall for Clark when they drafted Thomas last year. Dejan's column about Woodley two weeks ago makes me think the Steelers are dumping him and they wanted everyone to be ready for it. Only way he comes back is if Worilds walks, which would suck.

The Steelers' 2014 schedule (2013 records). Time and dates to be announced in April.
Home: Baltimore (8-8), Cincinnati (11-5), Cleveland (4-12), Houston (2-14), Indianapolis (11-5), New Orleans (10-5), Tampa Bay (4-11) and Kansas City (11-4).
Away: Baltimore, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Jacksonville (4-12), Tennessee (7-9), Atlanta (4-12), Carolina (12-4) and New York Jets (8-8).

The only really tough road game is @Carolina. I don't fear going to Cincy. Hopefully the game against the Saints is at the end of the year and in crappy weather.

I think there's a decent chance Ben starts hitting on college girls in bars if Haley comes back. Though the offense ended up being around average despite losing their center in the first quarter, starting Isaac Redman at RB, and various other self-inflicted maladies. I would have fired him after the Titans game so as to not have to worry about what to do if the offense perked up throughout the year. Haley was brought in to improve the running game and get Ben through the season. Ben made it through the season but the running game was bad in standard and advanced metrics. It's arguable how much credit/blame he gets for those.

As for LeBeau...who knows. I don't know how much of the defense's decline is on him or how much of it is due to not having the horses. The defense is built on having 1) a nose tackle who can clog the middle and limit the opposing team's running game, 2) a veteran MLB to make the calls, 3)pass-rushing OLBs and 4) a playmaker in the secondary. They never had the first all year (draft Louis Nix III and that problem is solved). The second (Larry Foote)was lost early in the first game. The third (Woodley) was hurt/fat all year, and the 4th was there some games and not there others. The players love him and I don't think the team wants to push him out the door. He may just decide to walk away.

Is Todd Haley still viewed as the problem? Once they finally solidified a starting group for the offensive line and Bell came back from injury to take over the RB job (from the worst RB tandem in recent memory) the offense was very competent.

Except when they got to beat up on the Browns, the defense was atrocious. Due to either salary or age (or both), they'd be better off moving on from Polamalu, Taylor, Woodley, Keisel & Clark. I don't know if Taylor or Polamalu are the type of players that could come back and help in reduced roles, so I say just go younger on D.

I think if they plan to continue playing the 3-4, and Nix is deemed a long term solution at NT, they'd have to draft him.
