iPhone 5S and 5C

Postby blackjack68 on Tue Sep 10, 2013 1:50 pm

Does anyone care since Steve Jobs died?

I haven't heard a lot of buzz about the "new" iphones.

Reading the live blog as the "unveiling" is taking place (started at 1pm).

Lots of talk about iOS7. Smoother performance. More apps being developed. Available 9/18.

So far, 5C is plastic and comes in several colors. Is pretty much like the 5 but has a better facetime camera.

5C 16GB = $99
5C 32GB = $199 (both with 2-year plan)

Siri is upgraded.

No word on the 5S yet, but I assume that's still coming.

Does that mean 5 standard will be less than $99?

the iphone's decline in buzz stems from a lack of any real commitment to come up with new tech. its damn near the same product in a different package.

Supposed better processor in the 5S for better mobile gaming.

Comes in gold and black and silver.

No. It's being replaced. I was hoping to grab one cheap, but I guess we'll see what happens with all the left over stock.

That's what I'll likely do too.

I read it comes in colors and I've seen it that they have colored cases (from Apple) for $29. Not sure what is true.

I think its going to play out the same way as last time. I got a 4 for 99 after the 4s came out. Imagine the same thing will happen.

aside from dictation of e-mails/texts while you're driving, i don't see a single useful purpose for voice control.

Cook specifically said in the presentation that weren't doing that, but I don't know what they would do with the surplus phones already on shelves.

I'm good with my iPhone 5; I could use an upgrade from my iPad2.

Regular 5 is being dropped. 8GB 4S still free on contract.

I like the finger print reader but every high end Android phone will incorporate that soon. If iOS 7 doesn't live up to hype I'm looking to move to the Samsung Galaxy line just for a change.

Probably hold them for warranty exchanges. My wife hasn't had this many problems with a phone since her Storm 2.

I'm running into a lot of problems lately with my S2 skyrocket but I think thats just because of its age and the abuse I've put it through. Its been dropped in water 2 times to the point where it wont come on, and I put it in rice for a day and it works. The power button sticks, and the USB port wont work, but I take that all with a grain of salt. So far it's the toughest SOB I've ever had. Withstands multiple drops on ceramic tile too with no issues, knock on wood.

I like the gold color, but my 4S is fine right now. No need to upgrade for no (real) reason. Same phone, same apps.

Using your fingerprint to unlock the phone will make it easier to text n drive.

Does anybody ever buy the 64 GB phone? Better yet, does anybody ever use the majority of the 64 GB?

I would bet they are becoming more popular as metered data plans are becoming the norm. What folks used to store and access on the cloud, they are now storing locally, because of data limits.

I could likely get away with 10. I have my ipod in my car permanently connected to the stereo in the glovebox with usb and have like 20 or 30 songs on my ipod to listen to when i work out. I mostly listen to podcasts which i download when i'm on a wireless network and then delete when they've been listened to.
